Reliable & fast contact sensor trigger w/thread
I’ve got HomePod Minis and Eve Energy devices so I’m using the Eve Door & Window with thread. They come with plenty of spacers to adjust the non-battery powered passive part of the contact sensor. So depending on your door or whatever, most people should find a way to make these work. The battery cover is hard to install and feels like you’re forcing it on — so I’m concerned that battery replacement might be frustrating. So try to be sure there’s a way to remove the active sensor from the battery door, which is done by sliding away the sensor body. Those are the only negative things I can say about these devices.Importantly, the both my Window and Door contact sensors already had the new Thread firmware (purchased in July 2021). So I did not need to upgrade their firmware. At first when I added an Eve contact sensor, it didn’t trigger automations reliably. So I rebooted all my Eve Energy and HomePod devices. Since then they’ve been working flawlessly, every time, and near instantly. I have one contact sensor that turns on the hallway lights when the closet doors are opened, and turns them off when closed. I have another sensor on a slider that we only open up to let fresh air in. So I set up an automation to put our Ecobee into away mode to keep the AC or heat from turning on when we have the windows open. They’ve been extremely fast, triggering within a second of opening or closing. By using the Eve app I can see that so far these contact sensor Thread end-points are relaying their activity to an Eve Energy thread router that is about 30-40 feet away with several walls. That’s impressive range and I’m surprised they’re not routing through closer HomePod Minis or NanoLeaf Essentials bulbs. I plan on buying more of these devices soon as I can think of more practical, life improving things to do with them 🙂

Deserves nothing less than a 5-star rating. Highly recommended!
The Eve Door & Window Sensor is hands down the best sensor I have ever used! With its advanced technology, it offers accuracy and reliability, giving me peace of mind knowing that my home is completely safe and secure. The setup process was effortless and the Matter compatibility made it easy to integrate it with my existing smart home appliances. The design easily blends in with any decor and the long battery life ensures that I do not have to worry about replacing the batteries frequently. The alerts and notifications on my phone keep me informed of any activity around the house, making it easy to keep an eye on things even when I am away. With its exceptional performance and top-notch features, the Eve Door & Window Sensor deserves nothing less than a 5-star rating. Highly recommended!

Unreliable
These doors sensors are highly unreliable. They constantly become unavailable in HomeKit. If you are using these for security reasons, look elsewhere. You cannot depend on these sensors to provide the level of reliability that youâll need for security use.

Received tampered-with packages.
I received two packages, both had been tampered with/opened; One of the sensor doesn’t connect.Updating: factory reset of the “broken” sensor, using the reset pinhole, worked. I suspect these might be refurbished? but they both work now.

Reliable and connects to Apple Home just great
Great for my side gate so I can see if anyone enters my yard while away. Also I have it connected to Apple Home and it plays a siren sound through my HomePods if gate opened while I am home to alert me.

Ok sensors. Not the best for 90 degree angles
sensor contact is very finicky. setup to homekit and eve app was easy enough but again thereâs a good delay on notifications. We found 90 degree angles (e.g.: sliding patio door) to be a pain. but weâve found a 3d printed housing to work. oh if youâre using homekit itâs not gonna show up as an accessory device (ideal) but instead under security > sensor, meaning itâs not obvious when something is tripped. youâll only be notified if something is wrong. meaning you canât just quick check if the window is open bc it wonât tell you status. thereâs several clicks to get to info but hey thatâs not Eveâs fault, thatâs on apple. You can see status at anytime on the Eve app.

Great smart contact sensor from Eve
The Eve Door & Window sensor is another great product from Eve. Setup with Matter is very easy. I am using this as part of my Apple HomeKit home. All I have to do is scan the QR code on the product and my phone automatically connects to the sensor and adds it to my home. I setup my sensors as a door sensor to check if the front door to my house is closed. You can also add automations like turning on a closet light when the door is open. Additionally, with Matter support this Eve product now works with Alexa and Google Home! I am very impressed by the ease of setup and responsiveness of this product and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a smart home contact sensor.

Iâm wondering about what happens when the battery runs out. 3M backing tape sticks them to the surface. The battery is behind where the 3M tape is. So you would have to somehow rip the sensor off the wall or wherever itâs attached to change out the battery. The battery is also not a common or standard type battery. Other than that itâs works as intended.
