Quiet. Produces compost
I am giving it a five now because so far it has been very quiet and it seems to produce compost as it states. I did try to compost a pineapple and I had to cut it up in pieces and it was a little sticky so then the inside got messy. Everything else I’ve compost avocado seed egg shells chicken bones bread other things have composted very well so far I am. I will update as it goes on cuz I’ve only used it three times. So far I have no odors coming from the container that you store stuff in I am doing it weekly cuz it is small but I’m only one person so that’s okay.

So quiet!!!
As the title says, this machine whispers. I had another brand before that was much louder and quit working after two months. This unit works better from the get-go. Another feature I love is the design of the basket. It separates from the unit, and the base is smooth so it wonât scratch the counters. It also comes with a carbon filter lid to trap odors of food placed in it awaiting processing. Be careful when cleaning; the blades are like razors! I recommend a long, bristle brush to clean toward the bottom. I would give this unit 10 stars if I could. Itâs worth every penny.

My favourite kitchen gadget purchased within the last year
If you come to my house, you will hear me raving about this product. One of my friends saw it in action and immediately ordered one for herself. I love how I have completely cut down all my food waste down to almost nothing. Almost everything goes into it. I even put the dead leaves from my plants into it. It works so well. I live by myself, but somehow I find that I am running this machine nearly every other day. I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies, so I have a lot of skins, pits, and other non-edible organic materials to dump in the machine. The “compost” that comes out, gets dumped into a bin with soil to further break down a bit more and then can be used on plants. It’s amazing! It’s a bit of an investment, but it’s totally worth it. My energy bill has not really gone up from running it. It does take around 6-8 hours to run. I run it usually over night when energy consumption is lower.I keep the scrap bin in the kitchen and the machine in another part of my house on the floor.

A great way to recycle food waste. Good support if something goes wrong.
Our FoodCycler worked great for 2 months, and then it started getting harder and harder to insert the bucket into the machine. It felt like it didn’t fit quite right until it finally clunked down and seated itself. After several weeks of this the bucket got stuck inside the machine and there was no way to remove it. VitaMix was great to work with. They asked us to box it up (luckily we kept the box) and they sent UPS to pick it up. They sent a new one quickly and within a few days we had a new one. Great customer service and a great product when it works. Fingers crossed…

Best ever
Ultimately quite. The refrigerator is noisier. Works great, well worth the price, turns everything to a powder. Takes about 6 hours. Start it before you go to bed, will be done in am.

HIGHLY recommend this device!!
We live in mountainous forestland at 2500â elevation and have composted all our scraps (vegetables only) for 26+ years. We have a large compost container plus two rotating tumblers. We have considered buying worms to accelerate the process, but they die in our cold winters so thatâs out. We have tried getting our compost to mature, and it takes absolutely forever. We bought this unit a week ago and have used it twice already and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. No! It is not wasting food. By the time I chopped all the organic veggies for soup, I had onion skins, carrot tops, celery scraps, etc etc etc. coffee grounds with filters, not to mention for once I could add egg shells from breakfast scramble, and the scraps from stewing smoked ham shanks all night â yes, the scraps from eggs and and meat that we NEVER dared put in our regular compost due to possibility of attracting our friends here in the woods called bears. Nothing goes to waste around here. I am thrilled with this ECO5 purchase even though itâs pricy! The results coming out of the process are truly amazing! Unrecognizable from what went in there. Heavy unit! We have a Vitamix blender so were already familiar with the brand quality. MRS. T.

I love this machine. I did a ton of research prior to purchasing it and I chose this model for a few very important reasons.1. 5l bucket2. Quiet3. Efficient4. What it could compost5. Refillable charcoal that can be purchased at a pet/ fish storeI have a large 2 side outdoor drum composter that works really well. Easy to use and fill , BUT, it cannot be used in the Canadian winter. I threw a lot of stuff away and I was heartbroken by it. This machine is an absolute game changer. My first batch consisted of chicken bones, paper towels, coffee and tea grounds with filters and bags and assorted vegetables. Oh my gosh! I canât tell you exactly how long it took as I turned it on before bed, but I woke up to a third of an ice cream pail, a little over 1 litre, of the weirdest looking compost Iâve ever seen. It looked like blown in insulation with a bit of dirt mixed in! Nominal smell and so so cool! I have family members who have this and they rave about it. It is expensive and the machine is heavier than I anticipated, but worth it! The 5l bucket comes with a filtered lid so it can sit on the counter to be filled and DOESNT smell! This is an amazing machine and worth every penny. If you wanted, wait until Black Friday to see if there is a discount? I bought it with a coupon so I didnât pay full price. So far I have zero complaints. Oh, and the bucket is spotless when done. Do not put fat or condiments in it.

Love love LOVE this machine! tend to fill 1/2 full- have put in ribs [ pork not beef] bones, chicken bones, papaya pits etc- cut up fibrous iris stems to 2″- and NO SMELL and minor soft ‘clunks’ as beginning to work- wonderful nutty aroma in finished product, ready to sprinkle over ground and lightly did in! and NOT in garbage. Yay! PS really easy to use.

I’ve used indoor food processors like this for a while (from other manufacturers) and my last one just broke. Saw this and decided to get it as a replacement. The build is solid, and overall looks to be much sturdier than my previous one. In order to use it I had to buy a step down transformer because it runs off 120v, which is not UK compatible (despite being advertised as such). I’ve been using it for about two months now. It’s a lot quieter than my previous one, and runs for less time. Overall, I’m more than happy with the quality. I’d give it 5 stars if it was UK compatible out of the box
