Great reference for engineers who know the theory but requires more experience in connections
Great purchase and awesome tool to have a visualization of the connections in wood framing, coming from experienced framers. 5 stars!

Great book for somebody familiar with framing.
I have a construction background but I have never framed a roof. This book has lots of great tips that make what could be a complicated and time consuming job simple and light on math. After reading the pertinent chapters I was able to frame a dramatic dormer, and it looks amazing!

Book okay, but online videos are better
Overall, the book’s illustrations are helpful and several of the book’s contributing authors (e.g. Haun) definitely know their craft, but the step-by-step instructions are difficult for a novice like me to follow. I found myself watching YouTube videos just to get a better idea of what the book was trying to explain.

The art of framing roofs is being lost in this generation of framers because of the heavy use of engineered roof trusses. I purchsed this on a whim and can honestly say it surprised me as too how much it taught me about properly laying out roof framing after many years of being away from drawing roof plans. This shall reflect in more accurate plan sets I drawing for contractors. The entire series of For Pros by Pros is outstanding and should be on the book shelves of all residential draftsmen / draftswomen / designers.

Just the right information I was looking to add a large shed dormer to both the garage & house!
