Excellent mini pc
I have been using this minipc for 1 week and I have been loving it. I was looking for a small gaming pc because I knew that it could handle what I needed it for. I personally do not use it for gaming but do use it for multitasking multiple productivity applications and it works great. I have not ran in to anything it cannot handle. The fan does come on but it is not loud and sounds a little lower than my 2016 Macbook Pro.

Enable WP3 on your EERO network
Initially the PC was unable to connect to my eero 6e pro mesh network. Working with GEEKOM and eero tech support I discovered that the PC was trying to connect to a 6 ghz band on the router. Maybe that’s a capability of WIFI 7 but I didn’t even know the eero had a 6 ghz band! Turns out it does but requires WP3 to be enabled (which wasn’t enabled). Once I enabled WP3 on the network the PC connected correctly to the 5 ghz band.Operation has been super ever since. Thumbs up to tech support for their help.

Geekom works, A good replacement for Win 10, easy transition. However, lately I read the Geekom is coming out with a Mega model. I wish I could try it and if I find it better I can exchange this A9 max. Still waitng for the mega model.

Let GEMINI speak for me:”Yes, there have been several reports from users detailing issues with GEEKOM mini PCs that relate to both overheating/failure and power button unresponsiveness, often requiring the power cord to be pulled …specific issues reported for GEEKOM models include:⢠Power-On/Off Failures: Multiple users, particularly with models like the Mini IT13 and AE8, have reported that the machine suddenly stops powering on, or the power button fails to respond to a press or a press-and-hold for shutdown. In some cases, the user had to unplug and replug the unit to get it to turn on.⢠Hardware Defects: Some failures were attributed to internal component issues, such as a blown power supply circuit (which one user physically observed) or poor connection/alignment of the physical power button on the case.⢠Overheating/Thermal Throttling: While a power-related issue may not always be due to overheating, high-performance models (like the Core i9 versions of the Mini IT13) have been noted as running “way too hot for their cooler,” which can lead to thermal throttling and, in the worst case, component failure.Immediate Action Plan:1. Had a bad HDMI cable but not going to deduct for that but was annoying. Tech support is a bit slow but HDMI cables are cheap.Otherwise, it seems good but haven’t really asked it to do much yet.

Don’t buy for AI, buy for good CPU and modern m.2 drive and ram for a reasonable price.
If you are considering this because you want it for it’s AI capabilities, or you are an artist looking to use it for image/video generation look elsewhere. Even after upgrading to 128GB gddr5 ram, the specialized AMD NPU/GPU hybrid LLM models and NPU LLM models struggle and lag in a basic chat using the AMD recommended software. The only models that worked good are the ones that run on the CPU which defeats the purpose of the specialized hardware. The iGPU is woefully lacking in power so any kind of image generation takes over a minute for anything larger than 512×512. You might be better off with something that has a strix halo chip, if you still want to struggle with a lack of AMD support, or something with a good NVIDIA GPU.Additionally, if you want to upgrade the ram or add/change the m.2 SSD, be prepared to need to unsolder and resolder the wifi/Bluetooth antenna wires from the rf shield. The wires are too short and even knowing this in advance and being super careful I still accidentally disconnected them from the wifi Bluetooth module.However, if you’re looking at this for a powerful CPU with a modern m.2 drive and ram at a somewhat reasonable price, then this is a good buy.Overall I’m still happy with it. I bought it because I wanted a CPU that could keep up with my software reverse engineering and development tasks as my old laptop was struggling. This will definitely hold up for a few years. I’m only disappointed in it’s AI capabilities because it was advertised as being very capable for AI and it is not.

Well packaged, beautifully finished, and easy to set up. The fan noise is no louder than it is from my laptop when running the same processor-intensive apps or games. Excellent range of connections, and I really appreciate the 2TB (nominal) SSD. All apps appear to load and run faster than they did on my old laptop which had a Ryzen 7 and 500GB SSD, but I have not yet had time to do any serious photo processing, though Iâm certain that I will notice the improved performance. Recommended, especially at a sale price!
