Nice bedroom radio/CD player.
Excellent little unit! I almost returned it because I thought the dimmer for the display (it’s quite bright) wasn’t working but it turned out it doesn’t work when the unit is in StandBy mode. (Which is like “off” except the display stays lit.) The sound is decent, the controls make sense. And it is quite attractive in its wood-grained case. I play a lot of mp3 CDs which may have 40 or more selections. I’m grateful for the numerical keypad so I can just punch in the selection number and not have to click to it one selection at a time.

This Oakcastle is a perfect counter top stereo. Good strong sound and cd player is a nice bonus to have in a compact unit. It’s worth the price in my opinion.

No EQ memorized but still great for a bedside player…
The only downside: EQ settings are lost whenever it goes to standby mode.Other than that it’s a great bedside player which is what it was purchased for. The Bluetooth mode allows me to send my turntables feed to the bedroom with sufficient sound quality.Remote control is logical enough to be memorized and this makes it useful in the dark.

Very Impressive Great Cost
WOW, UNEXPECTED SURPRISE! Everything worked…played CD beginning to end no problems, we preset, programmed 17 FM stations but, you can set 30 stations. Clarity, crisp sound that “packs a punch”! Comes with antenna if you need (we needed to swerve it on only 1 station to get rid of static and it was clear as a bell…easy adjustment). You can register for a 3 year warranty online! It also has Aux, USB, Bluetooth, many extra features we didn’t use. Outside case looks beautiful and easily sits on a end table, counter or shelf. You can’ t go wrong for this price! Very happy.h

CD Tray Problems
Set up the HIFI400, went to insert a CD, and the tray will not open. So the main reason I purchased this unit is non-functional. I certainly hope the radio and alarm function ok. It’s rather difficult to recommend a unit that is only partially functional, so I won’t be able to. Too bad. Look elsewhere. Then again, you might have better luck with this unit.But wait, there’s more. Claim is made that this unit can decode and playback HDCD discs (see: Grateful Dead CDs). Not true. This unit is supposed to have a dual alarm system. Well, there’s no clock, and therefore no alarms, alas.To sum up : cd tray nonfunctional. HDCD M.I.A. , alarm clock also M.I.A. What did i receive for my hard earned dollars ? An FM radio, Bluetooth (which I never use), and a cheap looking square little box to house this in. Sad, really.

Nice cabinet but lacking sound quality
It is an attractive piece of furniture being built in a wood case. A few things that I found that I did not care for is that every time you turn it off, you have to reestablish your bass and treble settings for the sound quality. The unit will not retain your bass and treble settings in its memory. This unit does not have a good quality depth of sound for your music. The bass setting is quite lacking. I saw the 60 watts of power and thought that it would have a good depth tone of sound, but it does not. It is quite basic. The controls on the remote were quite slow to respond as well, even if you’re only 5 feet away. This unit is not for someone who enjoys a good quality tone from their music. The mid range is possibly set just above middle setting on an equalizer graph which gives it a clearer voice tone which is good for media stations. It has a nice high tone for treble, but as I mentioned, those setting will go back to default every time you turn the unit off. Again, the bass tone is quite lacking. If you just want a radio unit to just have noise in the background, I’m sure this one might be fine if you don’t mind the basic sound quality regardless of the tone settings that will not be retained. Again, I thought the noting of the 60 watts of power would have given that depth of quality tone. It just isn’t there.

Great little stereo for all those old cd’s I have in my office. Nice and compact. Has a great sound. So far, I love it. Easy to setup, nice looking.

La verdad esperaba que fueran cierto esos 60W , el sonido es terrible pensé que iba a escuchar sonido stereo, pero parece monoaural, el aparato es bello y cumple con todo, excepto el sonido que aunque por el costo pudieron poner unos altavoces decentes envolventes, en fin creo que tendre que comprar unas bocinas para mejorar el sonido.

No encendió, comprobé que el eliminador sà funcionara, además tenÃa un maltrato, también la caja estaba rota y parchada donde colocaron la etiqueta de envÃo. Según parece me enviaron una devolución previa en la que seguro no comprobaron que el aparato funcionara. Todo mal, lo devolvÃ.
