sturdy tool BUT should be longer and missing “hook” to pull nail from under shingle
I used to have a similar tool that was a bit longer so you could reach under the shingle to pup the nail and not scuff your hand on the edge of the shingle. That tool also had a nice feature in that there was a “hook” facing the other way that you could use to pull the nail toward you after you popped it. I can see the nail coming up and getting stuck under the shingle with this tool since there really is no way to pull it out. I have never needed the other end to hammer the new nail in and have always done that with the flat part of the tool and a block of wood. This lets you put the nail as high as you want where this tool only lets you go up an inch or so – not too good for protection from the elements. I can tell the maker of this tool never actually used it!

Specialized Tool
Useful tool for repairing asphalt shingles. Without it you really need to lift the shingle tab up pretty high to swing the hammer. On a cold day or on an old roof, lifting the shingle that high is sure to crack it. It helps to soften the shingle up with a heat gun though, just to unseal the tab and give it some flex.I used to roof full time back in the 1970’s, and now I’m a handyman, so that should add some weight to this review.

In order to remove our gutters, we had to remove some roof shingles and nails. These helped us not damage our roof. Easy to use and self explanatory.
