The tool worked great for me.
This item was delayed for over a week, I was tempted to cancel. The tool finally came in, it worked great! I was able to cut a clean seat on the water valve and stop a leaky faucet without opening the wall and replacing the whole thing.

Worth every penney
Bought pre-tariff @$19.99. Worked like a charm. For that price I’d buy a new one every time if I had to, but the cutter seemed to be sharp after re-seating two valve seats. You wouldn’t be reading this if you could’ve removed the old seats. We couldn’t, so we did this and it worked well.

Not a tool used every day, but when you need it, its good to have in your box.
As time goes by, most older houses have had the bath or kitchen fixtures replaced. The problem is, not all fixtures have been replaced, like in the area I do a lot of my work in. Many of the homes I work on are over 100 years old, and surprise, I came across a shower that had the original manifold in it from the 40’s. I have an older seat grinder, but it couldn’t get the job done and I still had a small drip. This Lasco set comes with 3 different sized cutter heads so you can do both shower and sink fixtures. They also include a handful of seat gaskets and 2 brass screws to hold the gaskets in place, an added bonus I wasn’t expecting. The cutter heads are easily changed out but may need some help from a set of pliers after cutting a difficult seat. When using, it is extremely important to keep the centering cone perpendicular to the MANIFOLD, not the wall. If you go based on the wall and the manifold is crooked (even by a little) the seat WILL leak. This particular manifold was loose in the wall, so trying to keep everything inline was a challenge. I feel this is why my old grinder didn’t work well. The Lasco grinder has a slightly long driveshaft and fits snugly in the centering cone so there is no chance for wobble. Everything works well, but I would like a cutter head that is a little more aggressive, that old brass is much harder than today’s brass. I could make the initial cut to square things up and then come back with a smoother cutter to clean it up. This is one of those seldom used tools that if you don’t have it, you may not fix the problem. I have three large plumbing supply shops that I use regularly, all have stopped carrying this tool, thank you Amazon for helping me get the job done.

Excellent quality tool
Tool worked fantastic for repairs, I ordered this because I couldn’t remove the old and original seat’s. I love all the accessories that came with the tool. Thanks for having this available, home depot doesn’t carry this! Russ L

this tool assists in keeping the cutter true and flush but it doesn’t prevent a crooked repair
Don’t expect precision from this tool. It might assist in keeping the cutter true and flush against the valve seat but it doesn’t guarantee it.The conical piece that threads into the valve is hollow and made of plastic, and it allows the rod considerable wiggle. The rod is not threaded into that cone but is pushed through it until the cutter head makes contact with the valve seat. There is no knurled nut.The cutters that were included with mine, all but one, were in a sealed plastic bag. One was mounted. They all look clean and sharp.

Worked great to clean valve seat.
3 of my 4 outdoor spigots were leaking & just replacing the rubber seat on the valve stem didn’t work, so I purchased this tool to clen up the valve seat. It worked perfect to clean the valve body seating surface. My spigots were the frost-free style with an 8″ insertion length so I needed to purchase some M6 threaded rod with m6 female couplers to extend this.

Not as pictured
Product is not as pictured. It does not have a rod that is threaded the whole way. All the reseaters are too short to use on freeze proof outdoor spigot. Youtube video by Williams Plumbing shows how to use 20″ all thread with a kit as this was pictured to do the job. Will be returning and ordering the O’Malley one ($10.49) with review that shows threads and utilized for outdoor freeze proof spigot.

A “Must have”
This is a must have for homeowners with old faucets. I had to rig up an extension for it to reach the seat on my frost free spigot but the centering guide lined everything up and it saved me a ton of work and aggravation!
