PITA to install and setup on app, but good once installed
I had been looking for a ceiling mount flat / smart LED panel to replace a 20+ year old florescent tube fixture, and after years of checking, finally came across this one. I would have preferred to purchase a single light, but these are only sold in twos, so I got what was available. They shipped in a plain box with both panels nicely protected by multiple foam blocks.I am very unhappy with the mounting system for a number of reasons;- It requires your junction box to be at the center of the panel length, and it meant I had to mount my panel where it was not lined up with other things in my kitchen- The stupid safety strap literally broke as soon as I tried to setup the first panel. Luckily I didn’t have it attached to the ceiling yet or the whole panel would have crashed to the ground and certainly been ruined- The mounting plate is a square that sits in the middle of the 4′ length of the entire panel – and that’s the only attach points. My ceiling is not 100% perfectly level, and this means some of the panel corners, which have no direct attachment to the ceiling, show 1/4″ gaps.Once setup, I was able to get the panels on and ultimately setup in the app – which gave me horrible login/account problems – and then connected to Alex. The panels work decently well, but have a lag in responding to commands, and sometimes both lights don’t respond quite at the same time.The appearance and form factor are good, but I’d prefer something with a much easier/better mounting system, and an app that handles basic things like account authentication better.
