Great item if you use it well
This is a great item if you take a bit of time and learn how to program it to your liking. It also works best when not low to the ground so I’m using a heavy duty extension cord and have it set up on my bedroom dresser, it’s more accurate and easily accessible that way.I’m using this in the winter with a space heater in my bedroom. I like to close the bedroom door to seal off the rest of the house at night so I’m only heating the bedroom. This saves a lot of energy. The space heater’s built in temperature selector was not accurate and it would either be too hot or too cold in the room and I would have to keep waking up to adjust it or turn it off or on, etc. This is one of the reasons the Lux WIN100 has been really nice. The programming on this is powerful. Once learned, it’s very easy to set. You can set it to automatically lower the temperature when you sleep. I like 67 degrees myself. Then, in the morning, it raises the temperature to about 69 degrees for while I’m getting dressed and ready for work, etc. When I leave for work, I turn it off using the switch on the side for added safety. If you want to however, you could program it to set a low temperature automatically for when you are not home. You may need to fiddle with the temperature settings a bit to suit your own personal preferences but in general, this turns my space heater into something actually usable so was money well spent!

    Perfect. Works as advertised.
This product worked exactly as expected. I purchased two units. I am using them to run two electric baseboard heaters in the upstairs bedroom and den in my home. With these units I can set the day and weekend schedules for morning, day, evening and night temperatures. I wake up in the morning before i leave for work and the thermostat on the units, whether the heaters are on or off at the time, are reading exactly what i have them set for. The heaters themselves only have an analog dial on them that reads “low, medium, high” and when using those alone, the room is always either freezing or swealtering hot because the temp sensor just regulates the temp of the heater coils and not the room temp. With these LUX units installed (which only takes a couple simple minutes to install/setup) it keeps the room at the temp i want it, when i want it. I’m not home, nor in those two rooms during the days or evenings on weekdays, so i have the temp set really low during those times to save on electricity. It ramps up the heat in the late evening into the early morning, as i have them set to do. Also, my outlets are sideways (side by side) which i thought might pose an issue, but it did not. The little thermostat sensor is on a short rigid wire and can be bent 90 degrees so it stands upright as it is supposed to. So it will work great for vertically or horizontally mounted outlets. Also the units control circuit is powered by included batteries so in the event of power loss, your programming will be retained. The units can handle 1500 watt loads (if i remember correct) which is what most space heaters and electric heaters usually max out at. All in all a great unit/product that does exactly whats its meant to and worth the money.

Does what it claims. Better that I expected but not perfect. Worth the price.
I was reluctant to buy this because it’s big and a bit more expensive than I wanted it to be. But there is nothing else out there that does exactly what this thermostat does. So I bought it with a panel heater and I’ve been very happy with it. Easy to program. My only complaint is that it’s impossible to see the LCD screen without unplugging it and holding it up to your face. That method works, but it would be nice for the display to be readable without doing that.My other gripe is that it is a fairly large device. However, it is a heavy duty thermostat that can handle significant power (by residential heat/AC standards), and is solidly built. I have had many other timers that seem like they’ll ignite if you run a heater off of them — no such concerns with this one.UPDATE: My WIN100 has been operating all winter keeping a bedroom warm at night with a panel heater. It works great. I keep the heater on low because it maintains the temperature steadily all night and there is no need for high. I bought a second one for my garage and ran into an issue that others have noted. It has a fairly narrow range of operation. A heater thermostat should be adjustable down to freezing — this only goes down to 45. So if you’re running a heater to keep an area above freezing, this is going to run your heater a lot more than necessary. Based on this shortcoming (which was plainly advertised in the product description and yet I still didn’t notice it) and the two other minor issues, I am knocking this down to 4 stars. Note that the manual seems to suggest that this product is intended for use with a heater or air conditioner for keeping humans comfortable indoors, so my desire to use it to keep my garage at 33 degrees or warmer might not be an intended use. I don’t care – a thermostat for a heater should go to 32 because that’s what a lot of people want a heater for. LUX please improve this product — it’s so much better than the few other options but it needs a few tweaks. And send me a free one for providing this expert user feedback. One other comment: There are a bunch of negative reviews that say you can’t override the temperature or you can’t Hold, or you can’t adjust the calibration or the swing, etc. Yes you can but there is not a Settings button to go into the calibration — you have to read the manual to figure out which buttons to push to get into the programming. I haven’t done it but the manual explains it pretty well.

Product arrived quickly and works exactly as advertised. Extremely versatile and programmable in a multitude of ways, including a nifty “temp offset” feature which allows you to compensate for slight differences in temp readings between this thermostat and another in your home that you may want to match up to.We are using this product to control a 1-yr old Danby Premiere 13000 BTU portable air conditioner whose built-in thermostat stopped functioning.Amazing way to keep a $500, slightly broken, just out of warranty air conditioner working like new!One word of caution: this device cuts the power completely to the device that’s plugged into it, once the set cut-off temperature is reached. Some AC units may NOT come back on once this thermostat restores power. If you have any doubts, set your AC (or whatever device you want to use this with) to on, then pull the power cord from the wall. Wait about 3 mins, then plug it back in. If it comes back on and retains whatever settings you had programmed in, then you’re in the clear – this product will work for you.

This little device works great. The external temperature sensor is pretty accurate and can sense the temperature of the room very well….give or take a degrees. It has cut down the cost of my heating bill a lot. It’s easy to program if you follow the instructions, and once you set it, you can just forget it and just let it do its job. You can switch the display from Celsius to Fahrenheit easily. A great buy considering the fact that you will save a lot of money in the long run.

I built a free-standing ‘studio’ that I insulated, so needed to keep it above freezing in winter to prevent mold. I chose to use a very efficient wall mounted panel convection heater for that purpose, like the one I purchased at a home show about 12 years ago (which I use in a long unheated hallway, but formerly used in a bedroom). The one from the home show came with this Lux thermostat and it’s been great, so I wanted one for the panel in the studio. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the lowest temperature setting is 45 degrees fahrenheit. I would like to be able to set it a bit lower than that when I’m not using the space. Possibly 45 degrees is in fact the lowest setting to prevent mold though?? I do love the thermostat though. It’s nice to be able to program it while not plugged in, and it’s very easy to raise and lower the temperature or put it on hold with the touch of one button. A great little unit!
