Fantastic MIniPC, replacing my Beelink SER7, another fantastic unit as well.
This is perhaps my favorite MiniPC to work with of all the units I own or have helped with in consultation jobs. The iGPU is no slouch as well, and the added oculink and USB4 are amazing too. The only downside is when you have to switch out a NVME slot for the Oculink and the damn cable holding the fan on the LED display. For future models, either they could create a dedicated Oculink connection or have a separate adapter to make installation a cinch. In the future I plan to opt for a THunderbolt4 egpu because I do like my second slot. Overall, this is an excellent unit and actually displaced my SER7, which was my video editing workstation. Both use the same chipset, but the Minisforum is seems faster and has a few more doodads while being at a cheaper price. I’m converting my Beelink SER7 into a hybrid gaming machine rocking Bazzite and shoving Win11 into a corner.

Best BANG for the buck!
I was looking for a replacement for my old unsupported pc, and I wanted something with a small footprint that was able to run multiple programs without problems, enter the Minisforum mini pc. I love this thing! when mounted onto the rear of the monitor there is a lot more real estate on my desk for my documents and other files/paperwork. The price was well within my price range and it allows me to run multiple apps at the same time while watching videos. All in all a great buy!

Small powerful Mini PC
I bought MINISFORUM Mini PC UM780 XTX AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS,8C/16T, 64GB DDR5 1TB PCIe SSD 4.0 MiPros:1. size 5x5x2 inches. I bought the unit so I can transport and use in different locations where I keep duplicate keyboard, mouse and monitor etc.2. I use it primarily as my AI assistant with Ubuntu 22.04. Installed Rocm-Pytorch to use with built-in GPU. I can run Stable Diffusion with GPU, etc. with torch 2.1.2+rocm5.6 . I had to set: export HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION=”11.0.0″ after installs to make it work, so my use case is not for novice. Speed is adequate for my needs, much better than CPU only for AI ML tasks.3. Can add eGPU with mini PC for faster GPU, when I decide to upgrade with an external GPU, but I have not tried this hardware feature yet. This Mini PC unit is very quiet, I can only hope a find an eGPU just as quiet.Cons:1. Only comes with Windows 11 Home that did not allow me to install Ubuntu with dual boot. I would have had to buy $100 upgrade to Windows Pro. Windows Home cannot manage Bit Locker and prevents installing dual boot Linux. So I decided to wipe hard drive and use Linux which is ideal for AI experimentation. I have another older MinisForum PC 6x6x2.5 inches with Windows 11 Pro with dual boot installed. I find Linux less distracting to use than Windows.

One Out of Two Arrived Dead on Arrival
I ordered two of these, and unfortunately, one arrived dead on arrival with no video output whatsoever. I tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but nothing worked. Itâs disappointing to receive a faulty unit right out of the box, especially when the other one functions as expected. Quality control seems to be lacking, and itâs frustrating to deal with returns and exchanges for something that should work straight away. Not the reliable experience I was hoping for.

Great Mini PC
Just got my mini PC and I love it! I would have given 5 stars but one of the screw holes at the bottom of the unit don’t fit properly with any of the screws it came with. Not sure if the hole is small as when I tried fitting it in, it just goes halfway of the screw. I have even tried screwing it in first and it’s the same. I was afraid if small debris will get inside if I forced it. Maybe it’s just a quality issue, but nevertheless, this PC is great.

Hyper-visor working great
I bought this to update from an old HP Xeon server Im running proxmox on. Its only been running two days but so far Im very pleased with the performance. Its blowing away my circa 2016 server running DVR/security cameras in a docker container as well as windows 10,11 VMs… I dont think Ive gotten the processor over 20% and my prev box “idled” at about 35%. This came with a Kingston 1tb m.5 stick which was a nice surprise. Havent opened it up to see which brand of RAM memory modules yet. The case isnt even warm. I wanted to future proof my home lab and I think this fit the requirement well. Time will tell. The only complaint I have is not much comes in terms of documentation but for the price I cannot complain.
