Excellent laptop for a good price, but there are a few cons.
As the title says, this is an excellent laptop, but there are a few cons. My last few laptops have been 13″-14″ for portability, schoolwork, etc. I am no longer in school, and I regularly do a lot of productivity work such as excel on my laptop. I wanted a laptop that was a bit more powerful with a much bigger display.I will list the major pros and cons here, with a more detailed review below:PROS:DisplayBattery LifeKeyboardPerformanceI/O PortsDesign/Thin/WeightBuild Quality16″ screen, but still portableCONS:60hz Refresh RateTrackpadI bought this laptop a few months ago and I’m very happy with it. This laptop runs Windows 11 smoothly and handles all the tasks I need it to do, including browsing the web, editing photos and videos, and productivity work such as large excel files. It has a sleek design, a bright and colorful display.I only have one negative thing to say about the display and that is the 60hz refresh rate. I assumed the display refresh rate was 120hz, as every single one of the other 15 laptops on my list were at least 120hz or higher. That was very disappointing. The refresh rate was not listed anywhere unlike most other laptops…. now I know why. Very irritating, but far from a deal breaker because the rest of the laptop is so nice. The keyboard is comfortable with soft keys and a good typing experience. The keyboard also includes a number pad to the right. There is no flex AT ALL on the keyboard, as it is extremely sturdy and well built. The trackpad is extra-large and responsive, but it is off center to the left, which I hate. There is not enough room for my left hand to the left of the trackpad while typing, but I have large hands so this will not be an issue for everyone. The battery life is also impressive, but it certainly is not ground-breaking. The battery life of this laptop should not be compared to a 13″-14″ laptop. However, the battery life will be much better from previous models due to the new intel core ultra processors. The speakers are loud and clear, and the webcam is decent for video calls. One of the biggest selling points is that this laptop has plenty of ports, including 1x USB-A, 2x Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, 1x HDMI, 1x full size SD card reader, and a headphone jack. The laptop can get a bit warm and noisy under heavy load, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me. Like I said before, it is still a significant improvement from the previous generation of intel processors. For being a 16″ powerful laptop, it is EXTREMELY thin, lightweight, and portable. It feels extremely sturdy as well.Overall, this is a great laptop for anyone looking for a portable and powerful device that won’t break the bank. I highly recommend it.

    Limited use for Photography
Overall, this laptop is okay, but there are a few issues. It only has one USB port, which is limiting—especially for me as a photographer. I need multiple ports to transfer photos from both my phone and camera, so I ended up needing extra adapters. That was my oversight when purchasing.Another issue is that the laptop doesn’t recognize my camera directly, so I have to remove the memory card and use an external card reader. Transferring photos over Wi-Fi is also frustratingly slow, but necessary due to the lack of proper ports.I also bought Photoshop before it moved to a subscription model, but it’s basically unusable on this laptop. The screen resolution can’t be adjusted to properly run the program, and even viewing image thumbnails is difficult, even when set to large icons. In short, while the laptop works fine for general use, it’s not well-suited for photography or creative work.

    MSI Prestige 16
Amazing! The specifications for this laptop are one of the best values available for a mid-range laptop. It’s not being used for gaming, but the hardware is hefty enough it would do just fine. The OLED display is unbelievable. It’s bright, high contrast, and gorgeous colors. I love the backlit keyboard – it’s not color changing, but all I need is a light white background for the keys. The number pad is compressed compared to a standard size, but it does great for pin number entry and light data entry work. The keys are spaced out more than expected. The keys themselves react well and aren’t “sticky”. Performance is outstanding with the CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD combination. I love having the SD card reader, HDMI output, and dual USB-C ports. Because there’s only one USB-A, it’s being used for a wireless mouse. I don’t use a touchpad, but it works well. There’s no inadvertent issues with the touchpad. I don’t know how the AI feature works, but the battery life has been awesome so far. I’m very happy and would highly recommend this laptop for anyone looking for high end hardware without high end pricing.

Beautiful but missing MSI docking station promotion
I’m very pleased with the laptop overall. It could have used at least one more USB-A port so I’m going to have to invest in USB hub or docking station. After receiving the laptop I discovered that if I had ordered it from MSI directly I would have gotten a free MSI 2nd gen Docking Station for the same price as Amazon’s. It would be nice if Amazon would retroactively match the MSI store’s free docking station promotion.

    Disappointed
Super disappointed. Unboxed the computer plugged it in to charge. Turned it on to set it up and when entering my username I mistyped and went to backspace it to start over the backspace key did not work. When I pressed the key it typed random letters and numbers. I tried to look up to fix it and nothing worked. Then I went to see if other keys didn’t work and I found out that was the case as well. Several of the letter keys wouldn’t even type. I returned it immediately and asked for a refund. I’m not chancing getting another corrupted computer.

    Gorgeous
A steal at this price, with high end components and the typical MSI design sparkle. Highly recommended. Works out of the box, easy setup and rarin’ to go.
