    First nanoleaf experience….flipping awesome
So cool – we put these in our stairwell and although I’m totally screwed if I ever need to access the reset button on the motherboard, I haven’t needed to yet and these things work well with my Thread network and Home Assistant.

It’s OK, it’s not amazing, and for the price it really should be a closer to amazing then just OK.
So the Nanoleaf Skylight is fine, it serves the purpose I needed it to address. I had some big clunky recessed dual heat lamp fixture over our bathtub, the bezel of which was all yellowed and deformed after who knows how many years. The problem was, if you took off the bezel it left a huge (9″x18″) rectangular hole in a textured ceiling, not even really centered to anything. Not an easy thing to patch over, it’s a mop splat texture, very difficult to blend to, so I needed something that would just cover the hole, preferably RGBCW WiFi with support for Home Assistant. OK, this does all that, shocker of a price tag, but it meets the criteria. It was getting mounted over a giant recessed fixture box, so I was just going to corner mount the main panel over about half the hole with one of the satellite panels covering the other half and the 3rd balancing out what wasn’t centered to begin with. The corner holes are not drilled out in the main panel, easy enough to fix, but didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me given that the instructions actually call for using those holes, seemed strange. All went up fairly easy although it is a bit awkward to mark the anchor locations on a ceiling and get them straight. Someone posted a walk through on Youtube and suggested using office binder clips to keep the subsequent panels lined up and clipped to the previous one, great tip.So all installed, time for the fun part, it’s RGB time. The app (on Android) is VERY chatty, ask for permission to do stuff probably a dozen times, pretty annoying. It directs you to scan the barcode, which apparently doesn’t actually work, OK manual then, that worked, sort of. Connected and disconnected a whole bunch of times, then went dark, then a few minutes later came back on again. No idea what it was doing. Looked for firmware update in the app, didn’t see one, so assume it’s auto update only, so maybe that’s what it was doing, but who knows. There is some routine to specify the orientation on the ceiling, that didn’t work, whatever. It did seem to stay connected after that though, so far.Alright all that out of the way, and it’s well OK, it’s not amazing, or even impressive, it’s just OK, I expected more. It’s not as bright as I thought it would be, it’s decent, but I’d say it’s probably no brighter between the four 1’x1′ panels then a couple of 6″ canless recessed Tuya lights, again I expected more. It’s a little clunky, with the lens, more than an inch thick. The base is white plastic, which never ages well, I really wish they had made an option in pretty much any other color (black, silver, bronze), anything white plastic just looks cheap, especially over time. Or maybe just have made the product so that it wasn’t a lens on a base, but just a flush base and basically all lens. Even though it is as thick as it is, the light diffusing isn’t awesome either, it’s noticeably brighter around the edges and darker in the middle. It’s not bad, but again, not awesome. I gets auto discovered in Home Assistant so that’s a plus. Multiple ways in fact. Oh and also each 12″x12″ panel is all a common color, no zones, no gradients, just a big blob of whatever it’s set to, which is OK, but not awesome. So in the end it’s a perfectly serviceable product at a price that should get you a product that you are wowed by. It’s kind of reminiscent of a modern kitchen fixture from the 1970s. Would I buy it again? Yea probably, like I said it does do what I bought it to do. Would I buy it again if I didn’t need to cover a hole in my ceiling I can’t do much with? Well, no, probably not. If my ceiling wasn’t textured, I would have just patched the hole and used a couple of canless recessed Tuya lights for a fourth of the price. But this was up and done in an hour, vs the days it would take to do an iffy patch, paint, cut new holes, install new on what I had to work with, so I was paying for time I guess.Maybe if you had a lot of them it would inspire awe, and maybe I’ll expand it some, as I can see where it might have a higher coolness factor with more panels, but honestly that would probably take a really good black Friday deal on add-on panels, because I just don’t see it as a particularly good value, and I have lots of stupidly expensive tech.UPDATE: Bought some 1″ black stainless steel edge banding to put around the exposed edges of the tiles. They look a lot less cheap now, and more like something that costs what these do (added a pic, which also shows the annoying unpatchable ceiling texture).

Not Working, 3 Days & No Response To My Support Ticket
I bought the 3pk and only one of the panels responds to the app, the others light up but just stay bright w no changes. I created a customer support ticket with Nanoleaf Support and three days later they still haven’t replied. Customer support works 15hrs a day, 7 days a week but still no response.1st paragraph from their email to me…”Our customer and technical support teams are online seven (7) days a week and our hours of operation are 9:00am EDT/EST until 11:59pm EDT/EST. So hang tight, we’re confirming that your request has been received and we’ll loop back with a response shortly.”

    Exceptional Lighting Experience with Nanoleaf
I’ve been a long-time user of Nanoleaf products, and I’ve always been extremely satisfied with their performance. This time, I decided to order through Amazon for a change, hoping for a quicker delivery, and I wasn’t disappointed. The product arrived promptly, in perfect condition, and was well-packaged. The installation process was as straightforward as always, thanks to the user-friendly instructions provided by Nanoleaf. The panels are easy to connect and mount, and the app setup is a breeze. The lighting quality is top-notch, just as I’ve come to expect from Nanoleaf. The colors are vibrant and the brightness levels are adjustable to suit any mood or occasion. The rhythm feature is a personal favorite, creating a lively ambiance in sync with the music. The Nanoleaf app is intuitive and allows for easy customization of the light panels. The array of colors and scenes available is truly impressive, offering endless possibilities for personalization. The panels also integrate seamlessly with my smart home setup, allowing for voice control which is a major plus. The energy efficiency of these lights is another aspect worth mentioning. Despite their powerful output, they consume minimal energy, making them an eco-friendly choice for home lighting. In conclusion, I’m thrilled with my purchase and the fast delivery service provided by Amazon. The Nanoleaf light panels have added a dynamic and modern touch to my home decor. They are a bit of an investment, but in my opinion, they are worth every penny for the quality and versatility they offer. I would highly recommend Nanoleaf products to anyone looking to enhance their lighting experience.

    Awesome Show Stopper
Unlimited color combinations and effects. Highly recommend to take your time mounting your lights. I did one panel at a time using potato chip clips for alignment and making sure everything was just right. Did have early issues with lights turning off my scene after 5 minutes when paired with Alexa, but once I pressed the reset button on main panel for what seemed like 2 minutes have not had that problem. There are times throughout the day where my scene will stop between 30-90 seconds but is not bothersome and perhaps can be fixed with a firmware update. Overall a fantastic product.

Not a big fan about the price, but once they’re set up, my mind was at ease. Will be getting more for other rooms. Very bright

Keep freezing and sometimes lit at 3 am and keep disconnecting from the wifi (SINCE it is a ceiling light it is not acceptable) I gave up with the customer service. They keep asking for a video of the problem. I install a smart switch to make sure it stay off during the night. I have more than 6 Nanoleaf products (few more that 4 years) I am so disappointed of this product and the customer service
