Great resource for pastors, parents and individuals alike!
As a Youth Pastor, I can’t think of a better translation for teenagers. The New Living Translation (NLT) is written in a very easy to understand language, while still retaining the original words of the writers. The translation is very easy for the teenagers to understand without hearing unnecessarily big or complex words which other translations sometimes use. Often with those large words in other translations, we would look up the original greek text and find that the original word actually translated into a very basic word, but that the translators opted for a fancier sounding word or way of saying something. This held true for complex sentences, as well. They could be accurately translated into sentences which were understandable by someone without a Ph. D. With a great translation, the next step was figuring out how to help engage their attention during bible study and keep them from getting distracted. That’s when I found this DVD. The narration is great and the text and graphics are modern. We are able to go through entire chapters of the Bible without someone getting distracted or distracting others. The ability to choose any Book and Chapter right from the menu is clutch. I can’t imagine NOT having this for our teen bible studies now. A few families in our church have picked up copies now to use at home to help get more Bible in their lives. I even find myself throwing this DVD on at home while I’m cleaning or working on a project. The narration is well done and I love being able to have the Bible read out to me while I do what I need to do.

1996 First edition of the New Living Translation
I purchased this video Bible not realizing that there are two editions of the New Living Translation, the first edition produced in 1996 and the second edition in 2004. They are significantly different. I do enjoy the format–with the text on the screen, music in the background, and a pleasant voice reading the text–but I wish Amazon had been clearer about this being the first edition. The second edition is available in a similar format–also read by Stephen Johnston: Holy Bible: New Living Translation – New & Old Testament (2004). Amazon gives the 2004 publishing date for the newer edition, but also doesn’t let the buyer know that that one is the second edition. The 2004 edition has been extensively revised to make it more accurate, but still should be regarded as a “reader’s bible” good for listening to and reading–but not a good study Bible. The ESV or NASB are good Bible’s for study. Before you buy this excellent resource make sure you’ve decided which version you want: the NLT first edition published in 1996 or the NLT second edition published in 2004.

this is my favorite version of The Bible on D
So far, this is my favorite version of The Bible on D.V.D. I listen to it almost every day. The print is large and easy to folliow along with. The narrator has a good voice for presenting this NLT Video Bible. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who had a vision problem, like I do, and find it much easier to have someone else read The Bible to me. In fact, it is worth every penny I spent on this video..

I don’t know why background music was added. We also have the KJV DVD and it doesn’t have music. We wanted to hear the narration and see the pages. The music prevents us from hearing the narration.

    East to follow
This DVD is easier to follow than some translations so it is great to watch while walking on your treadmill. This exercises your Bible knowledge while improving your health.

It is the written word of God.My mother brought me up to to believe in God,but I had never read any of the bible until I was twenty five years old.Much to my suprise,I discovered that His love for us is greater than even our family loves us.And that He wants to be a part of our lives, through good times and bad.He wants people to care about each other, and to forgive each other, just as He forgives us.I think it is wonderful, that you can purchase Christian materials with Amazon. What a great company.
