Thick stainless steel canister, works great, no smell, no flies!
Itâs hard to love an additional thing on our kitchen counter but this canister is great. Being made of stainless steel it shouldnât rust, plus it is sturdy. I cannot see how it could end up with holes, like one reviewer claimed. Itâs pretty heavy duty and the filters are certainly successful at absorbing any bad smells.The canister is also the perfect size to fit the small sized Back To Earth compostable paper bags over the top to easily and cleanly transfer the food scraps. Once the scraps have been transferred to the bag, you fold the top of the bag to tightly seal it, and then stick the full bag into the freezer until trash day.We wash the canister with dish soap every other time we empty it. The inside of the bucket gets discolored a little bit, from the chemical reaction with some of the food that gets dumped into it, but that is to be expected. And the charcoal filters last a month or so.I am suspicious of the reviewers who claim the bucket rusted or had holes develop, I cannot see how that could happen with this heavy duty, stainless steel material. Weâve had ours for almost a year now and except for the internal surface discoloring, itâs really just like new. Either they have severely misused this food scrap bucket, orâ¦? I would not trust them. These things are so handy that weâve been recommending them to our friends.

Small, effective, perfect for my needs
When I decided to start composting, I needed a way to capture and temporarily store my vegetable and fruit trimmings. I started out originally just using plastic containers until I figured out I needed something a little more designed for the job that would also eliminate problems like attracting flies or gnats, capture any potential smells from the food before I put it on the compost pile, and also, be easy to clean .This is perfect for my needs. It fits easily on the counter, Iâm constantly using it, and nobody can tell, including me that thereâs anything sitting on the counter, waiting for me to take out to the compost pile. No odor, no Nats, nothing that looks unclean.Highly recommend

just what I expected/got
I have two of these. As a long-time composter, this canister is really great. You definitely need the charcoal filters to keep odor at bay (unless you empty it every day, which I dont) but the stainless steel is tough and cleans completely with little effort. I have banged this around, kicked the lid across the floor (accidentally) and dropped it full, onto my stone floor from counter height and the worst I got was a minor dent. I have banged it hard on the composter, in effort to dislodge stuck-on stuff and the edge still looks perfect. FOr all the abuse I put this thing through, I couldnt have made a better choice. Yes I highly recommend it. Order extra filters.

Well made, nice looking
It arrived with a small ding on the side, but no big deal. It is well made. It resides on my counter top but I don’t mind looking at, better than the crappy plastic pail our waste collection service offered. Since CA passed SB1383 it was a must. I was fearful it might get stinky but it does not. I would recommend it.

Holes in bottom within a month
We have used these in a few houses over the years. The last one developed a hole in the bottom after over a year of usage. No big deal, we bought a new one.This new one ended up developing 2 hours in the bottom after a month of use. We reached out but never heard back from the manufacturer.

Excelente producto. Muy buena calidad, bien fabricado, buen tamaño. Yo lo uso para la basura orgánica (no carne ni huesos) queProduzco en el dÃa. Tiene dos filtros de carbón activado (y trae dos repuestos) que al principio pensé que no funcionaban, pero puse la tapa en agua y mojé los filtros, deje que se drenaran y funcionaron de maravilla. Estoy muy contento con el producto.

My only complaint is it could be a big larger. Would not advise for a family. Just two of us but we do eat a lot of plant based foods. No odour though and inside cleans easier than plastic models

The compost pail was exactly as described, reasonable size, easy to carry outside, looks great. Not sure how useful the charcoal filter is but haven’t noticed any bad smells. Can’t comment on long term durability or rust but no problems so far (1 month).
