Correct Square/Round and work great!
These are the correct square/round pair filters for a dual-layer, stainless steel compost pail with a 4″ lid opening (I bought mine through Gardener’s Supply.) They are large enough to stay in the lid, and keep the pail from stinking up the kitchen. Keep in mind: no filter will eliminate odors from *within* the pail, they simply keep them from leaking out. I’ve left mine in for months and I still have no odors coming out of my pail. I will definitely be ordering more of these in the future.

Falling Filter Problem
I purchase the second filter kit thru Amazon.com. We have had trouble with the original round filter falling out when you take the top off or when you put the top on! We got the replacement filter (Square + Round). The square filter is supposed to keep the round filter from falling out. It doesn’t work either. After a few months the heavier square filter started falling out because the square corners were soft & bending. I finally got a 3/16″ piece of spring steel laying on my work bench and cut it to fit inside the lip of the lid! It will never fall out again! They should include this item with the filters. They could even put little notches in the lid to hold the spring steel in place, although it is not needed. The spring steel can also be reused!! Bonus!!! I guess the filter works. The compost pail is next to the sink in the kitchen and it very seldom smells! Dennis Kramer

I ordered these while I was looking for something else. After receiving them and using one of them, I found my original receipt from a local bed and bath. I can buy these locally. I love the Compost Pail and use it daily and the filters really do help keep any odors from escaping!
