Solid piece of kit a a good value vs buying each tool separately
If you use more than one type of chain (and therefore will need multiple different size files for sharpening) this kit is a no-brainer must buy. Even though I need to supplement it with additional size files things like the depth/measuring gauge are extremely useful. Before I had to rely on micrometers to identify which size round file was which but this gauge is so simple you just find the right hole and the corresponding file size mark. Sure I tried labeling files with colored paint sharpies all sorts of ways but that comes off after awhile and even the files that have the size printed on them the font size is just too small for my old eyes :)The bar clamp for dressing chains in the field is also extremely useful.I highly recommend this kitâespecially for anyone who just bought a new saw or is just starting to learn woodcutting. Sharpening chains can seem complicated and difficult but frankly once you learn how itâs not complicated and not very time consuming. Plus the time it will save youâand the added safety of having a sharp sawâwill save you time and make the saw cut faster and easier. On my non-carbon chains I sharpen them every time I refill the fuel tank. Like I said once you get the hang of it, itâs really quite easy. And if youâre good with your hands you donât need anything more than a round file and a flat file. I donât need the guide bracket etcâalthough those are greatâit just takes me longer to switch files in the guide bracket than it does to sharpen half a dozen teeth on the saw :)Anyway⦠unless you already have a set of files a depth gauge and a bar clamp for the field donât think about it just buy it.

Good product, clear instructions.
Finally figured out how to sharpen my chainsaw blades. This is an excellent kit for manually sharpening your blades, even on a stump in the field. Good tools, good instructions.

A great quality package – has all the tools for multiple chains and saws. Should have just bought this rather than all of the other half baked odds and sods. Live and learn 😉
