Convenient Blade Sharpener for Easy Lawn Mower Maintenance
I recently purchased this blade sharpener to simplify the task of sharpening my mower blades, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The quality is excellent considering the price, and it maintains enough power to sharpen efficiently without affecting the machine’s performance. One tip I would suggest is to hammer out any significant nicks caused by rocks before sharpening for optimal results. Additionally, using a backboard to catch the grinding residue makes cleanup a breeze. I highly recommend this blade sharpener for anyone looking to maintain their lawn mower with ease.

    Awesome
Sharpens blades very well, it takes more time than using bench grindermor side grinder. With that said it does a much better job that is the perfect angle recommended for sharpening mower blades. Buy a blade balancer while you at it, if you are gonna do the job right you need one also.

    Oregon 88-025 Blade Grinder
I purchased the Oregon 88-025 Lawn Mower Blade Grinder after thoroughly researching the product. It is listed as standard duty grinder and professionals should make note of the description as it describes what you are buying. The product is built very well, easy to set up and use. The primary draw back is the 1/3 HP motor gets very warm ( too hot to touch) under steady use and I am worried that this will shorten the lifespan of this unit over time. This comes with an induction motor Class “E” with a “60 C Heat” rating. Vibration is minimal and when not under load is so quite you barely notice it is running, it comes with a 46 grit stone. Many internet pictures do not correctly show this product, the fancy adjusting knob at the top has been replaced with a large elongated adjusting nut and the holding thumb screws are now regular nuts.Because this is a standard duty sharpener, and one of the lower priced units it will attract the home owner with lots of land and I believe this to be a good unit for the home owner. I would recommend the company supply a 1/8 & 1/4 inch template as well as a 30 degree template to help in properly setting up the unit as these are standard dimensions required. An optional light would be nice.

    durability for years to come
Best sharpener and grinder I own. The functionality of this is great to sharpen blades and really easy to use to maintain the balance of your blades if you have a multi bladed mower you are sharpening 4. The precision and accuracy is that of like an army sniper shoot in the eyes out of people. If you look in the sharpen some blades you should buy this product immediately if not sooner and be glad of the durability it will provide for years to come.

    Does a nice job!
I was tired of hand sharpening my mower blades so I bought this. Good quality for the money. Seems to have enough power to sharpening without slowing the machine down. Would recommend hammering big nicks from rocks down before sharpening. And a backboard to catch your grinding helps cleanup.

Good unit for a reasonable price.
I own a part time lawn care service that I operate 3 days a week while in college. I mow about 20 residential lawns per week with a 36″ Scag Commercial Walk Behind. Sharp blades are important to me and bench grinders simply will not maintain the factory bevel, so I started looking at blade grinders. They run from $200 up to $1200. There is only one cheaper than this one but you’re limited to 5 inches of sharpening depth.I decided on this unit because it offers the ability to sharpen any blade length, while many others are limited to 6 inches. It was also within my budget. To get 9″ of sharpening depth, I would have to buy an RBG unit for twice the price. My initial impressions are good. It does not vibrate much at all. Its relatively quiet as well and starts smoothly. I set the angle to the factory bevel and it was pretty easy to set up. When I sharpened my first blade, it took about a minute or two to get the hang of it, applying even pressure as the blade moves accross. It took approximately 1-2 minutes to sharpen the first blade. I was sharpening mulching blade with 0.20 inch thick steel. The motor seemed to bog down slightly if I applied to much pressure on the blade, but when I kept the pressure steady, it was fine and made pretty quick work of it. The blade I had was in pretty decent shape as it was, so I wasn’t shaping steel. I sharpened four more blades before I called it a night. So far, I am very pleased.I should note that when I wrote Oregon about this unit and sharpening the thicker commercial blades, they wrote back telling me that the unit would bog down under the thicker blades and told me to buy one of their $1000.00 units. It actually handles the larger blades just fine for me without putting much strain on the motor.BOTTOM LINE: These are just my first impressions, but I would definitely recommend this to part time Lawn Care Operators or start ups who cannot afford to spend $600 plus on a larger grinder for now. This unit has plenty of power and offers the ability to sharpen any length of blade. It may not be as fast as the RBG or Magna-Matic, but its also less than half as much.

Efficient Blade Sharpener for Precision Results
Sharpening blades with this tool may be a bit time-consuming compared to a bench or side grinder, but the results are worth it. It ensures the perfect angle for mower blade sharpening. Consider purchasing a blade balancer for optimal results.

    Great Blade Grinder
I got tired of sharpening blades on a regular grinding wheel. So I bought this blade grinder. East to set up. Motor very quiet. Instructions on blade angle adjustments were easy to do. Set it up and sharpened 3 new blades. Perfect sharpening and great blade edge. The 1/3 HP is plenty to sharpen blades. If you apply too much force you start to burn the blade so an even smooth pressure is plenty and the motor works fine. The only thing I could think of that would make it better would be a light. I plugged in a portable light near the grinder so I could see the grinding process better. Other than that, it’s a great little tool.

In Australia this will not work on our voltage, you will need a step down transformer. The machine itself seems well made, motor is heavy so I assume robust etc.
