Origami Storage Racks Are Great!
The Origami storage racks are great! I purchased 2 of them when it was offered on Amazon’s Gold Box Deal of the Day. I purchased the Origami R5-01W model with wheels because I might occasionally need to move or relocate the storage racks after installation. I purchased one for use in my kitchen and one for use in my home office.The storage racks arrived folded up flat in boxes. Inside the boxes, they were enclosed in plastic bags for protection. After being removed from the boxes and plastic bags, they opened up effortlessly by unlocking a catch lever that keeps them locked together. Once the storage rack is opened, there is a catch lock mechanism located on the back of it that must be engaged to provide stability and complete setup. The storage racks are tall, wide and deep. Each storage rack shelf is about 35.8″ wide x 20.85″ deep and each storage rack stands 60″ high, when assembled. I like the way these storage racks are designed. The quality is actually much better than I expected. They are very well constructed, nicely finished and very strong.Setup was a snap! No nuts, bolts, parts lists or instructions were needed because no assembly was required! I removed the storage rack from the box, placed it on its side, attached the wheels (A double sided wrench is included in the shipping box to facilitate attachment of the wheels to the storage rack.), stood it up on the wheels and snapped the top shelf down.Note: Folding over the top shelf and locking it down while the storage rack is standing up can be a problem if you are assembling it in an area with a very low ceiling. However, if you have this problem, you can easily just lay the storage rack down on its side, fold the top shelf over and lock it down. Then you can just stand the storage rack up on its wheels and roll it wherever you want to position it.A set of four wheels is included with each Origami R5-01W storage rack. Two of the four wheels are locking wheels. The locking wheels help keep the storage rack from accidently moving after installation. I put the locking wheels on the front of the storage racks as shown in the pictures on the boxes.The 4 wheels included with the Origami R5-01W storage rack are a bit small and the maximum weight capacity (storage rack with wheels installed) is 75 pounds per shelf. Caution: This weight capacity must be evenly distributed on the shelf. Place heavier items on the bottom shelves. These Origami storage racks are designed for use on hard, flat and level surfaces. Do not exceed the, maximum weight capacity.If you desire more weight capacity and/or easier movement of the storage rack with wheels, you can easily replace the 4 smaller wheels included with the Origami R5-01W storage rack with a set of Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels.I decided to purchase 2 sets of the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels because the wheels are thicker, larger and the maximum weight capacity (storage rack with heavy duty wheels installed) is 170 pounds per shelf. Caution: This weight capacity must be evenly distributed on the shelf. Place heavier items on the bottom shelves. These storage racks are designed for use on hard, flat and level surfaces. Do not exceed the, maximum weight capacity. The Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels facilitate easier and safer movement or relocation of the storage racks after installation.Actually, if you want to install the storage racks with wheels, I would suggest purchasing the storage racks without the wheels and purchasing a set of the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels separately. Otherwise, you might end up with unused sets of the smaller wheels that are included in the boxes with the Origami R5-01W Storage Racks (Like I did).Note: If you have no need to move the storage rack after setup and you do not want to use wheels, I would suggest purchasing the Origami R5-01 General Purpose 4-Shelf Steel Collapsible Storage Rack (no wheels). Installed without wheels, the maximum weight capacity for the Origami R5-01 is 250 pounds per shelf on level surface with weight evenly distributed. It may be a great choice for use in a garage, office or warehouse.The AMAZON Product Information Technical Details webpages do not give accurate information concerning the dimensions of the storage rack wheels. For the wheels included in the box with the Origami R5-01W storage rack, Product Information Technical Detail specifies the following approximate wheel dimensions: (5.2 x 5.5 x 2 inches). The wheels that I actually received have the following approximate dimensions: (3 1/2 x 1 7/8 x 7/8 inches). The wheels including the housing extend approximately 2.5 inches from the bottom of the storage rack after installation. The height of the storage rack with these wheels installed is approximately 62.5 inches.For the wheels included in the box with the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels, Product Information Technical Detail specifies the following approximate wheel dimensions: (7.2 x 7.5 x 2.8 inches). The wheels that I actually received have the following approximate dimensions: (5.5 x 3 x 1 inch). The heavy duty wheels including the housing extend approximately 3.5 inches from the bottom of the storage rack after installation. The height of the storage rack with these wheels installed is approximately 63.5 inches.Without wheels installed, the size dimensions of the Origami storage rack when folded are approximately 20 ¼” W x 2 ½” D x 60″ high.With the Origami Shelf Wheels (smaller wheels) installed, the size dimensions of the Origami storage rack when folded are approximately 20 ¼” W x 2 ½” D x 62 ½” high.With the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels installed, the size dimensions of the Origami storage rack when folded are approximately 20 ¼” W x 2 ½” D x 63 ½” high.The Origami General Purpose 4-Shelf Steel Collapsible Storage Racks are a great buy! They are just perfect for my needs. I especially like the way that the storage racks easily fold up and roll out of the way when you don’t need them. They take up very little space when folded, yet they provide a lot of storage space when unfolded. I would definitely recommend the Origami Storage Racks to others.

I have ordered 4 of these shelves over the past few years and I can’t say enough about the quality. They are so easy to assemble, they hold a lot and they roll very easily! If I need another one I won’t hesitate to order it.

The coolest storage rack you’ll ever see.
I’ve been unofficially the spokesman for Origami’s products for anyone who has been within earshot of me after I buy one of these. These storage racks are extremely cool, and aside from attaching the wheels, required no assembly.This 4-shelf model was the first one I bought and is what made me a fan. It arrived in a reasonably tight box and wasn’t too difficult to carry over to my 4th floor apartment. Naturally, it came packaged in its folded state, and is extremely thin for something that expands roughly 3 feet. Screwing the wheels on was time-consuming but not unexpected. When it was all unfolded and secured, it glided around on the floor easily and was just as sturdy as any other rack I’ve used, surprisingly. It doesn’t flex when you use it — the clamps on the back and the top shelf keep everything nice and stable. The coating on the metal is smooth and seals well, with no compromises that I’ve noticed, so I trust that I won’t be dealing with corrosion anytime soon.I’m using this as a shelf in my room. As a piece of bedroom furniture, it’s certainly not fancy, as it’s not designed to be, but it’s extremely practical, easy to move, and if I decide to re-arrange the room, or if I decide I need to use the space for something else temporarily, this thing folds up into an amazingly small space for its size. Not to mention, it’ll make the day I move out of my apartment much easier. I don’t know if storage racks get much cheaper, but I’d rather haul this thing around from location to location folded up than I would disassembling and reassembling a cheaper, non-foldable one every time I needed to move it through a doorway or through any small space.All in all, it’s a quality storage rack, and the fact that it folds up makes it versatile and gives you the ability to put it to the side when you don’t need it.

Seriously if there was a Nobel Prize for Shelf Design, this would win. I have bought shelving units across the years of all sizes from every brick and mortar and virtual vendor that you can think of both in person and online. Living alone I’ve always been the one to assemble everything. Coffee tables, bookshelves, end tables, microwave carts, computer chairs, computer desks, garden carts and greenhouses -you name it I’ve used an Allen key on it. At one job I even assembled the housekeeping carts and most of the guest chairs for the guest rooms as well as the bell carts. Hands down this was the most pleasurable experience I’ve ever had assembling anything. I want to buy more of these even though I don’t need them just so I can have the fun of doing it over. It’s also visually appealing and extremely functional.

It is very expensive, it took me lots of thinking before I ordered it. I’m happy with the purchase. This is the best rack I ever see, excellent quality! Very easy to assemble, the wheels make this rack super convenient, the delivery is very fast too.I think I will buy another one.
