Not for determined dogs
My dog, an average size and somewhat high-strung beagle, was able to get under this fairly easily due to the lack of tension. It worked fine to keep her out of the kitchen while cooking, but wouldn’t hold her in a room if she really wanted to get out. I tried a couple of methods to block off the bottom, but she just tore it apart within a week. I can’t imagine this holding any determined dog out â they’ll either be too small or too strong.

The gate is nice, but does come unlocked if it is messed with enough. Fairly easy to install but does take some time to line everything up.

Such an easy install!
We are using this for our large German Shepherd dogs to prevent them from being at the entryway when guests arrive and boy is this sturdy enough for them. The Installation was a breeze with all the tools aside from a drill bit and drill being provided. I really like the quality of the mesh, the fact that it will be easy to wash up if it gets dirty and the handle area is nifty. It’s not overly complicated to open or close yet a small child would have troubles with it. Comes with a warranty registration as well.I removed my safety tag easily with a seam ripper as I didn’t like the way it looked.

Not worth the money
Was not as good of a build quality as I was expecting for the value. Its functionality seems like it makes sense but in the end it doesnât. Safety is a big thing this just does not hold up to. A crawling child was able to get this to open and fall very quick. While it looks nice it is not with the money.

Nice and versatile gate
There are a few things I love about this baby gate.The material is great. I love this way better than the ones we bought in the past that are metal or wooden. This one is also great for inside or out. Plus the size options for the gate are an added bonus with ease.The gate is easy to install, the included instructions are the greatest, but you will figure it out.I am thinking about getting a second set of mounting hardware to have the option of putting across the upper patio. Currently we have it mounted in a standard doorway.It took a few times to learn how to open and close it. But I don’t know about you, but I find that with every new baby gate you have to learn it’s open/close process, they are never the same. This one does have added security for solid locking of the gate.The price is very fair for this baby gate. I would get it again for another one for us and even a gift for someone expecting a baby, busy toddlers etc.

Really Is The “ULTIMATE Retractable Gate!”
This really is the “Ultimate Retractable Baby Gate! Seriously, this indoor/outdoor gate from the Perma Child Safety Store was a lot easier to install than I thought it would be. (If you have any doubts or concerns about installation, watch the installation video before you order it!) For our home, we needed a slightly taller gate to keep our standard dachshund (believe it or not!) in the room he stays when we’re not at home, and this gate, so far, has done the trick! I particularly like this gate because when not in use, you hardly notice it, or, should the need arise, you can remove it completely so that it is totally out of sight. It’s also easy to use/operate with just one hand. Five stars!

These retractable gates are probably my favourite design of safety gate.You just attach the main gate to one side and then the hooks on the other side and it is installed. The gate is 2m long so will fit any size gap from 0 to 2m making it very versatile.It is also very simple for anyone to use, you just pull it across and then hook it in and then unhook it to open it, unlike the various buttons you get on more traditional gates. You do also have the option to lock it using the dial on the gate if your child figures out how to open it.The best thing for me is that each side of the gate is nice and slim, this means that once you have opened it, you can hardly notice it is there. This is perfect for when the kids are out or in bed as it doesn’t look like you have gates all over your house and they don’t get in the way. Overall, I would certainly recommend.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Product seems great and well made but not suitable for small dogs. Despite installing it level to the floor and putting the function to tight my dogs went straight under it (dachshundâs) very fiddley to open one handed too.

This gate was easy to install with helpful guides and extra pieces to allow for skirting boards.However the bottom section was not very big (the âsecuring mechanismâ which meant in no time at all my smallish dog had learnt how to wiggle it out with his nose⦠and therefore getting through⦠(was bought for the dog!!)So no I donât recommend this product for dogs!!

Easy to install and looks goodUnfortunately pet escapes underneath as it’s not rigid enough so not fit for purpose.Also very difficult to close as have to line up the two elements top and bottom in order for it to fit.
