Good, but I made it much better.
This rating is based on the value for cost and overall quality of product as received. This drill guide is entirely aluminum, and has fairly decent build quality. I purchased this three times before keeping the last one, the other two arrived damaged (scuffed surface or rounded sharp points). This drill guide comes with two 0.85mm thick springs, and one guide rod collar clamp (of questionable aluminum alloy). The guide rods themselves only have two plastic caps at the top as stoppers, so nothing is really preventing the jig from flying out given enough force.I made TWO critical upgrades to this drill guide to make it MUCH better, increasing its value further.1. I got four 10mm aluminum collar clamps and added them to the guide rods – two on the bottom for depth control, and two on top, replacing the plastic caps there originally, and securing the jig properly. I removed the original collar clamp.2. I got two new 1mm thick springs for the guide rods (find on eBay with good seller), replacing the original 0.85mm springs, which were somewhat weak, specially if using with a heavier drill. This spring upgrade will help with control, bounce back, and support. — New upgraded springs typically come longer (11.81″ or ~300mm), so they will need to be cut to fit the guide rods correctly and provide correct resistance. The length should be about 9.64″ (245mm) from my calculation.* Both upgrades are about $10 each and greatly increase the drill guide functionality. Here are the measurements I took using a Mitutoyo caliper (I needed them in imperial, you can convert to metric):Length of original spring at rest – 9.5″Length of original spring compressed (to top of doughnut clamp at base) – 1.3″Length of guide rod to base – 9.6″Length of guide rod to the top of donut clamp at base – 9.2″Guide rod shaft width .39″Guide rod shaft width (interior) – .38″

Watch for the little rubber caps on top
Little rubber caps on top come off easy. lost on the first job. Other than that it does what it’s supposed to.. Will probably put a small hose clamp on will last longer

excellent quality
ive used these in the past and there are many different variations of quality and price out there and this one seems to be a good mix of both. the guide is well made and is robust while still moving very smoothly when plunging. well made and stable and has the notch for round items and can also drill at different angles. no slop in the chuck, nice and tight fit up. overall a very good value for the money

Very Poor Quality and Safety Hazard
Not a single Allen set screw that holds this tool together was properly tightened upon receipt. I unknowingly used the tool with loose screws only for the jig to literally blow apart as the drill powered on and I began to use the tool as intended.

Pricey but it’s sturdy and well built without any wobbling.
I was debating if I should get this or get a cheap drill press from Harbor Freight. I decided to go with this as it’s more portable. I used this to build a solar ground mount and this worked really well. It’s very sturdy and allows good precise drilling without any wobbling. It’s pricey but I’m happy with the purchase.

Super useful for quick, straight holes without a massive drill press.
This drill guide is awesome. There are many variants of this kind of thing but this one gets almost everything right. First, it is sturdy and locks tightly into whatever angle you set. It also has a thick shank on top for the drill to grab and not some thin 1/4 inch hex shank. There might be some copy to copy variation but my copy had very minimal wobble/vibration on either the drill end or the chuck side, even at higher speeds. The chuck feels solid and when keyed tight wonât slip or loosen. There are some minor things that could be better. For example the springs are very soft and under a smaller 12v drill they sag until the bit almost hits the work surface. Tighter springs might be better. Another nit pick is that the angle numbers are under everything else and can be hard to read/see.Overall this thing is a fantastic value and works well. The red anodizing is more of a pinkish red but it looks fine. It would be hard to find a better variant of this kind of device and if you need something like this you should give this one a try.

Great Value – Sturdy
Works really well and is well made. Adjustable to just about any reasonable angle. A huge benefit if you want to drill straight and true holes – something I just can’t freehand.

Item looks solid but the springs need to be stronger. As it is the spring barely supports my small battery drill.

I’ve had a chance to use this a couple times. It is especially useful when you cannot bring the wood to the drill press, but rather need to bring the drill press to the wood. The machined handles are great. The quality of this off-brand drill guide is quite good and it drills accurately. It’s made of all metal, and the chuck can take upto 1/2″ size bits. It come with stops which allows you to perfectly center holes on the short end of wood stock.Compared to some better known portable drill guides, this one is very competitively priced and is will worth considering, especially if you are like me, and use this type of jig only occasionally.

Bit fiddly but works great

Very convenient in setting drill angle. The position line markings do not align with the center of drill bit. Therefore I need to check carefully every time. It does the job anyway.
