What does it do?
With the press of a switch you’ll have an instant hot lead or ground lead. Use the probe tip and ground lead simultaneously to power up components right in your hand. Instantly check components for continuity as well as identify positive, negative and open circuits without re-polarizing hook-up clips. Locate shorts without wasting fuses.

Power Probe 3
Power Probe 3 uses a 20ft cable which attaches to the vehicle’s battery, allowing the user to perform an electrical test anywhere in, or around the vehicle.
The PP3 is a Voltmeter and Continuity Tester, with Audible & Visual indicators along with two LED headlights to light up your work area. This circuit tester also supplies Battery Voltage or Ground to activate components. The housing is sleek and feels great in your hand. This powerful time-saver tool is perfect for every level of technician.

While the PP3 is in Power Probe Mode. Contact the probe tip to a NEGATIVE circuit. The green negative sign “-” LED will light. If the audio feature is turned on, a low pitched tone will sound.
While the PP3 is in Power Probe Mode, contact the probe tip to a POSITIVE circuit. The red positive sign “+” LED will light and the voltage reading of the circuit will be indicated on the LCD display. If the audio feature is turned on, a high pitched tone will sound.
1. Connect the PP3 to a good battery.
2. Clip the auxiliary ground clip to the trailer ground.
3. Probe the contacts at the jack and then apply voltage to them. This lets you check the func-tion and orientation of the connector and trailer lights. If the circuit breaker tripped, that con-tact is likely a ground. Reset the circuit breaker by letting it cool down (15 sec.) and depress-ing the reset button until in clicks into place.

This has immediately become essential in my tool box while restoring my vintage motorhome. It takes a lot of guessing and uncertainty out of the equation while troubleshooting and issues can be found so much faster. Couldnât do it without it. This tool is much reviewed on the internet – seems usually by people/techs that have never taken it out of their tool box.It most certainly is useful but I think more for the ability to activate/test components. A lot to remember in the instructions and so if you’re like me, an occasional DIY user, you’ll need to actually take it out and use it while reading the instructions to properly access it’s usefulness. I seem to have survived without it for 50 years, but I always like buying tools.The four stars is just because I can’t fully address the practical uses yet. Four stars for easy to use is because I think I’ll need a couple of lead accessories to compensate for thickness of test tip. Three stars for accuracy is because I can’t compare it to anything yet, although the voltage reading is the same as my Extech DMM.Whatever you do, understand the electrical circuit before activating the power button or you’ll fry something. I think a double safety on switch would help prevent to hasty a decision to power the circuit.

Previously had a PP4 which unfortunately failed outside the warranty so purchased this as a replacement. Handy tool for fault finding. Easy to use and has a long lead to hook up to battery and use the length of the vehicle your working on. Definitely a lot more basic than a PP4 but still a very useful capable tool.

Ich habe viele Jahre mit dem PP1 gearbeitet und war immer vollstens zufrieden. Einmal eingearbeitet damit, möchte man nichts anderes mehr.Mit dem PP3 hat der Hersteller natürlich etliche Funktionen hinzu gefügt was in vielen Fällen auch das Multimeter unnötig werden lässt.Prüfspitze mit Bananenstecker ist auch klasse. Abschaltbarer Lautsprecher für alle die das gepiepse stört verdient einen Daumen hoch! Alles in allem ist das Gerät noch vielfältiger geworden!
