Power Probe 3
Power Probe 3 uses a 20ft cable which attaches to the vehicle’s battery, allowing the user to perform an electrical test anywhere in, or around the vehicle.
The PP3 is a Voltmeter and Continuity Tester, with Audible & Visual indicators along with two LED headlights to light up your work area. This circuit tester also supplies Battery Voltage or Ground to activate components. The housing is sleek and feels great in your hand. This powerful time-saver tool is perfect for every level of technician.

While the PP3 is in Power Probe Mode. Contact the probe tip to a NEGATIVE circuit. The green negative sign “-” LED will light. If the audio feature is turned on, a low pitched tone will sound.
While the PP3 is in Power Probe Mode, contact the probe tip to a POSITIVE circuit. The red positive sign “+” LED will light and the voltage reading of the circuit will be indicated on the LCD display. If the audio feature is turned on, a high pitched tone will sound.
1. Connect the PP3 to a good battery.
2. Clip the auxiliary ground clip to the trailer ground.
3. Probe the contacts at the jack and then apply voltage to them. This lets you check the func-tion and orientation of the connector and trailer lights. If the circuit breaker tripped, that con-tact is likely a ground. Reset the circuit breaker by letting it cool down (15 sec.) and depress-ing the reset button until in clicks into place.

No more blinker housing on a screwdriver for me!
This device is great for testing components without removing them (just remember somethings ground to the frame). This comes with a few different plugs/clips for power and has a few modes. But really it’s a fancy and easy way to power a component to check if the wiring is bad or the component. If you work on aftermarket 12VDC accessories on vehicles like campers, ambulances, or your brother’s pickup with the household style wire and wire nuts powering a generic LED flood bar, you need this for troubleshooting.

Yeah it’s pricey. But, the real value is it’s ability to apply power (or ground)
glad I bought this tool but I’ve wasted quite a bit of time because of the poor documentation and videos. Probably more than I’ll ever use the tool. One of the first times I used it I was able to find a problem in the headlight switch I wasn’t even aware of. I was able to figure out which of the terminals on the headlight was power and ground and test the light by applying power without having to remove the lamp, so that was cool. If I was a professional mechanic I can see how this would save you a lot of time. As a DIY’r it’s nice to have but if you’re not using it all the time I’m not sure it’s worth it. I bought the probe because I wanted to learn more about auto electrics. I lost all electrical power in my truck once on a busy freeway in socal which was very scary. Since then I’ve wanted to learn more about electrics. It’s a good tool but terrible documentation if you don’t know the subject matter and examples already. The videos stink too. Every time I see that guy demonstrate how to go from one mode to another I want to bang my head into a wall. Geez, is that really necessary to go over and over again, sister? If you don’t know how to change modes you shouldn’t be using the tool. And then some key parts of the tool they gloss over or don’t explain at all. e.g. they don’t really explain very well the relationship between mode 5 and mode 1. I guess their customers got so confused by this they had to make a video called ‘factory reset’ which isn’t a factory reset at all. Page 13 they mention that you can use this to listen to the ignition firing on your sparkplug wires. Nope, not even close. I tried this several times and kept thinking
