Do not touch the sword. Do not turn the key. Do not open the gate.
In the land of the unforgiving desert, there isn’t much a girl wouldn’t do for a glass of water.
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs for as long as she can remember.
But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone.
When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they’re real, and Saeris has landed herself right in the middle of a centuries-long conflict that might just get her killed.
The first of her kind to tread the frozen mountains of Yvelia in over a thousand years, Saeris mistakenly binds herself to Kingfisher, a handsome Fae warrior, who has secrets and nefarious agendas of his own. He will use her Alchemist’s magic to protect his people, no matter what it costs him… or her.
Death has a name. It is Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate.
His past is murky. His attitude stinks. And he’s the only way Saeris is going to make it home.
Be careful of the deals you make, dear child. The devil is in the details…

Should you read this book???? YESSS
Book Review: Quicksilver  by Callie HartQuicksilver is a gripping Enemies-to-lovers romantasy that follows Saeris Fane, a 24 year old who will do almost anything for a cup of water, and Kingfisher who is too handsome for Death himself. The story unfolds as Saeris unbeknownst to her abilities opens the gateways between worlds and gets trapped with kingfisher and must help him win a war to find her way home, leading to a story filled with self-discovery of a badass FMC, fun side characters and delicious banter. What I Liked:⢠I liked that the world building was easy to digest for the first part of the book. Leaving me to get trapped in the world and not want to put the book down.⢠Saeris is such a great character. I enjoyed how she takes no shit and felt relatable throughout the story.⢠But the real winning character is Carrion. He is so full of himself and I love it. And he is hilarious and such a shameless flirt but that is his charm. I canât wait to see what happens to him in book two. What I Didnât Like:⢠Now for what I didnât like, unfortunately I didnât like was the moment our two MC got together. I felt as if I might have missed something in how one moment they are bickering and the next they are having sex. I know they had some scenes earlier in the book that they kissed but where is the tension after that kiss and then them giving in. It was almost too easy for them to get together.Callieâs writing is captivating, and the characters are well- developed while staying relatable. The plot is predictable in some parts but keeps you satisfied, keeping readers hooked with every twist and turn especially within the last 100 pages.Overall, Quicksilver is perfect for readers who enjoy morally gray characters, witty side charters and a female character who is stuck in the middle of it all.Rating: â â â â â My rating system:â - DNFâ â - Finished but it was a struggleâ â â - It was a good book but probably would not read againâ â â â - It was good and I would read it againâ â â â â - Brain shattering and I need every copy made if this book

Holy Cow!!
I wasnât sure I was going to like this book, but it drew me in pretty quickly. I read it in 5 days. A relatable heroine, horrible conditions, situations and oppressors. Shades of Star Wars and the Hunger Games. Cool fae stuff and enough spicy parts to keep things interesting but not gross.Itâs very well written and the intertwining storylines deepened the complexity in a very thoughtful way. I feel for the characters and enjoyed watching them flesh out.well done, Callie!Lots of twists and turns and a bang up ending. Canât wait for the next one.

Wished I would’ve loved it more
Don’t get me wrong; I was totally hooked at the beginnig of the book. I found it entertaining, interesting, and it had a good pace. I also loved the side characters! Especially Carrion! But… after all the hype I came across on Instagram, I just felt it… lacking. Especially, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Saeris’ and Kingfisher’s interactions and sex scenes. For some reason, I felt that the book flowed beautifully whenever anything else was happening (it’s so easy to imagine is as a movie or TV series!), but when these two were together and having their moments, I felt it… forced? Bland? Kingfisher gave me the idea of being a sexy mf, but when the sex finally happened, it just didn’t live up to the pictures he had painted in my mind lolAnyway. I insist: this was still a really, really good story and I’m looking forward to book 2. But maybe the writing style, or Saeris’s point of view just wasn’t my cup of tea

READ ASAP
RATING: âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸SPICE:ð¶ï¸ð¶ï¸ð¶ï¸I am so upset with myself for putting this off for so long. Thank you everyone for (kindly) bullying me into reading it!! I immediately understand the obsession. Saeris is an awesome FMC. I adore how badass she is, she’s strong on her own. Her point of view is clear, her motives feel so relatable, and her internal monologue is what my brain sounds like. Kingfisher is obviously a fan favorite and I can see why… I am desperate for him. He is the perfect amount of moody & grumpy & so sweet in his weird little way. The smut took a good chunk of build up but when it got there it was STEAMY. The spice felt like a plot device and spaced into the story well. As a couple, they are pretty rock solid in terms of substance. However, the GEM of this book was Carrion Swift. He is probably the funniest side character I have enjoyed this year. Total Ridoc from Fourth Wing vibes, Carrion is absolutely ridiculous and raunchy. Truly, I would read a book about him immediately. The magie system was incredibly interesting and the plot was fast paced and locked me in. For its size, there weren’t moments that felt like a lull, something was ALWAYS happening. That, coupled with a jaw dropping last 100 pages, made this an easyyyy 5 star. The descriptions of the Gods and their powers made me feel like I was 13 again and obsessing over Greek God lore. One of my favorite romantasy books of the year easily. November cannot come soon enough for book 2.
