Love Reolink cameras!
I have these cameras, one is on a property in New England, and the other is on Florida. I didnât try need to purchase another hub, but itâs worth it in my opinion.I have one that keeps an eye on a tricky area at my house in New England, and one that I keep in my chicken run in Florida.Excellent video quality, and they were easy to get connected. One is placed 20 feet from my home WiFi, and the other one is about 50 feet from my WiFi network, both have had stable connections. I made sure I bought two micro SD cards in addition, to make sure I could get the most storage capacity that was available. I love that I can use the app to check on both properties when Iâm not there.Theyâre easy to use and I donât think they are expensive for the peace of mind I get. I can activate the lights and sirens from wherever I am. Being able to adjust them is really nice too, however I do find the process to be a bit laggy. Itâs not bad, just kind of fiddly. (Be patient.)They stay charged with the solar panels, so thatâs also another great feature. They work very well for my needs, and Iâd recommend them.

Not as much range as expected
Easy to set up and install however the camara 5G breaks up and loses connectivity. Camaras only 25′ from Home Hub but around corner of house and garage.Works good on the 2.4G band but running at reduced resolution. Have only had for a week so still learning and playing with. Install instructions ok but operating details are a search in Realink support or other online sites.7/20 revision– Ive been working with Reolink customer service who have been great. 5G Connectivity has increased by changing channels.

The Riolink Argus PT Ultra cameras are worth the money.
The cameras were extremely easy to set up. It took me a couple of hours to set up both cameras, but that is because the mounting screws that come with the camera are meant for wood or sheetrock and I mounted my cameras into the metal tubing of my car port. If you’re going to mount the cameras to metal make sure you drill pilot holes and use sheet metal screws. Also, I thought that the base would connect automatically, but I had to go back and scan the QR Code on the cameras after I had the base connected to the Riolink app on my phone. No big deal just a little added note.Because my property is remote we and we have absolutely zero cell service, I have the cameras connected to my Starlink and use the solar panels to keep them charged. It’s August, so we get plenty of sunlight, but the batteries have stayed fully charged so far. I spent about 2 hours the other night playing with the cameras testing different setting and the batteries lost hardly any power at all.I’ve had the cameras up for about 3 weeks now and love them. I am able to monitor my property, and my cattle every time they step in front of the motion detector. I am amazed at the clarity of the cameras, and the night mode was really surprising.I recommend these cameras to anyone who wants to use them for security or just to monitor your property.

Happy with system. Expect a learning curve.
System works wonderfully once set up is complete. Set up instructions could have been far better than what was provided. Got though it, despite that, and am impressed and satisfied with the equipment and the functionality of the software app.

Poor connection
Worse cameras set. I’m very capable of figuring things out, but these cameras set was extremely challenging to pair to the main unit. The signals are weak and does not transmit clearly when installed in the exterior of the house.

Great Wireless Cameras
Another great camera system from Reolink.

Videos freeze too much, misses too many events
Misses a lot of motion detection, recordings freeze and only start playing after 15 second

Reliable, easy to set up, and great coverage!
Iâve really loved these cameras. The setup is super simple once youâve watched a quick tutorialâafter doing it once, the rest are a breeze. Theyâve held up great outdoors and give me peace of mind knowing I can monitor everything in real time.I now have all Reolink cameras at multiple locations, and I love being able to view them all in one app. The picture quality is excellent, and the solar power keeps things low-maintenance. Highly recommend if you want reliable coverage without complicated installation.

I found setup of both cameras to be very easy to setup thanks to Reolink’s genuinely good security camera software. They are good quality cameras. The build quality feels very sturdy and I think these two cameras will last a long time. Furthermore, I found that installation couldn’t have been easier. Just remember that the cameras need to be in range of the wireless router. The solar panels are great. If Reolink is reading this, I think it would be nice to power &/or charge the camera with both the solar panel and via a plugged in USB C cable as well. That way the outlet can be the backup power source to the cameras should the solar panels not get enough sun on a particular day to reasons of stormy weather or even snow covering the panel. The home hub is very useful to have as it encrypts and stores footage into data that is stored on two micro SD cards both which accommodate up to 256Gb. Right now I have one 256Gb card and a 64Gb card but I plan to soon make it so that both slots are 256Gb to store as much data as possible. The benefit of the hub is that the footage can not be stolen if someone were to try and take the memory card from the camera or even steal the camera with the card in it. The hub prevents those scenarios.Reolink’s software is very good. It is fast, easy to use and there are just so many settings to tinker with including setting up schedules. I find it really neat that this camera can identify people, animals or vehicles and all of which can be enabled or disabled at will or configured to operate on a schedule. The cameras are PT and not PTZ which means they lack any sort of optical zoom feature which is not great. The plus side is the picture is very good and it is easy to see a lot of detail whether it be day or night.Reolink makes very good security camera products. I think what is also neat about these cameras is that they are able to set up anywhere, even if the wifi is coming from a cellular hotspot device.

Work great for our barn and I was so thankful to be able to check on things from indoors in the middle of the freezing cold nights during kidding season this spring! The only con is that they rotate slowly.

This is a fairly decent solar/wireless security camera system and it’s amongst some of the most versatile out there that supports almost everything one would want or need (granted; everyone’s preference is different). I personally do not care much for phone App as the vast majority of these on the market have one anyway and they all work fairly well for the most part. What I wanna see is the support and ability to use PC-based software, whether it is their own or support for others such as Blue Iris, ZoneMinder, or Shinobi etc.One of the outcomes of 3rd party software support is the ability to use either HTTPS or RTSP to connect, manage, or stream video feed directly from the cam and/or the software from which the cam is being managed. These cams don’t really support 3rd party tools but they do work with the PC client; however, there really is little need for it since most of the features are available via the Home Hub and which I do appreciate and indeed I find it a lot more useful than many others. For those who are familiar with NVR, the Home Hub in my mind is basically exactly that although this particular product uses Micro SD card (comes with 64 GB) to store the recorded video whereas NVR’s generally uses HDDs with a lot more storage capacity (and more reliable too). While the app and the Home Hub provides similar functions (except for storage and related features of course), the Home Hub also has its own separate Wi-Fi network for the Wi-Fi cameras to connect to which I do appreciate and indeed prefer over using the existing Wi-Fi network for security and other reasons; however, it’s important to note that the reception of it is generally worse than most mesh networks so if stability is a concern for you, you might still wanna use your own Wi-Fi instead. One of the best features for this kit, aside from the wireless cams and a central management storage system, is that the cams are battery powered and they can be powered by solar panels as well; however, similar to just about all other solar powered cams out there, it REALLY depends on where you are and the location and placemen of the solar panels for them to work effectively (with less long term frustration) so certain amount of trial and error is definitely required unless you know for sure the location/orientation where the solar panels will work most effectively. This is especially critical during the winter reasons where there simply isn’t sufficient amount of sunlight throughout the day most of the time.Security cameras such as these are fairly common nowadays so I won’t go into details on their setup since they are more less similar to one another; you’d fire up the app, add the camera(s), setup the monitoring and/or exclusion zones and their associated alarms with schedules if needed and voila! Pretty basic stuff. Unfortunately, although these do support dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz) although only the Home Hub supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and the cameras only support Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), which is rather disappointing to say the least. Btw, the Home Hub can work with most of the Reolink PoE and Wi-Fi cameras and not just the cameras that come with the kit.As for the Wi-Fi security cameras, connectivity/reliability aside, they are definitely amongst some of the better ones out there with respect to overall versatility, features, and video quality. They have a reasonably large 1/2.7″ CMOS sensor coupled with 8MP resolution which is fairly decent although the frame rate is relatively low and only at 15 FPS. I’d lower it to get at least 20 FPS or even 25 FPS because FPS is often more important than resolution (but that’s just me perhaps). I should only point out that it uses h265 for video codec and that means the overall video quality simply isn’t as good as h264 despite the fact that it’s a lot more efficient and storage friendly.â¡ Camera specs* Image sensor: 1/2.7″ CMOS* Resolution: 4K, 3840×2160 (8MP), 15 fps* Video codec: H.265* Wi-Fi: 2.4GHz/5GHz (802.11a/b/g/n, WPA2-PSK)* FoV: H/90°, V/46°, diag/110°* Video: mirror, flip, timestamp, watermark etc* PIR: detection/120°, pan/355°, tilt/140°, 1x guard position, 32x preset position* 2x IR: auto/on/off, 10m max, 1.2W, 850nm* 2x Spotlight: 2.4W/6500K* 2-way audio* Battery: 21.6 Whâ¡ Home hub specs* Support cams: 8x cam* Storage: 64GB Micro SD included, max=2x 512GB SD* 1x Ethernet port (100 Mbps)* Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi-Fi 6), 2.4GHz/5GHz, WPA3, sub 1GHz=868/915MHz* Protocols: HTTP/S, RTSP, RTMP, NTP (customizable), UPnP, SMTP/FTP/DDNS/DHCP* Motion detection: human/vehicle, exception zone(s), sensitivity, object size* Stream: resolution, FPS, max bitrate, I-frame (requires latest firmware)* Alarm action: record, email, FTP, push notifications* Smart Home: Google AssistantAs you can see, there is a wealth of configurable settings that can be fine-tuned to suit individual’s needs and personally for me, I want the ability to do time lapse recording and send recordings to a remote server, preferably via SMB/NFS or FTP (it doesn’t support SMB/NFS). I’d also like to see support for HTTPS/RTSP to be able to manage it remotely from a browser and stream it using a RTSP client of my choice. Btw, the Home Hub is able to record 24/7 as well (at 5min intervals) although that does take a lot of stage space so just keep that in mind. While it appears to be able to do both, time laps recording is ONLY available from the phone App which is rather disappointing for me. FTP support works fine though. Also, it’s one of the very few cams that actually supports customized NTP server list (yes I run my own stratum 1 server).â¡ What I likeâ Fully isolated and closed system (with proper config)â True 8MP/4K resolutionâ Clear (for the most part) day and night time recordingsâ Support for: HTTPS/RTSP/NTPâ Standalone PC/Mac-appâ Firmware upgradableâ Highly customizable configurations: variety of recording options, various motion detect parametersâ¡ What I don’t likeâ No wired compatibility (cams)â Time lapse doesn’t work/not available for PC/Mac-based setup (only seems to be available from Phone App)â Support/regular updates/patches for PC software could be betterâ Motion detection (human or vehicle) is a hit/miss sometimesâ Can only be mounted upside downThe recording quality during day time is for the most part crisp and clear (and it’s true ~4K unlike most others that utilize interpolations). Night time recording, even with the help of IR is above average at best (and there are very few that are better). Generally speaking, its video quality is amongst the top at this price point. Feature-wise, it has way more settings that can be fine-tuned for your needs. Motion detection; however, is a hit and miss sometimes. Though, I haven’t really had time to fine tune the various parameters pertaining to motion detection. The cameras are of course PTZ (h90°/v47°/d110°) which is great but I do find the FoV (and especially horizontally) to be noticeably narrower in comparison to many others, whether they are from Reolink or other brands (â¥110-150°), that I’ve come across and reviewed.â¡ ValueAll things considered, this is a fairly decent solar/wireless security camera system that’s quite capable with a lot of potential (only if the software/firmware can catch up to what it can really do). It’s feature-rich and it can do a lot of the things that I care about, which is great. However, it’s not without issues and in particular the Wi-Fi for the cameras should really be at least Wi-Fi 5/802.11ac instead of the very outdated Wi-Fi 4. It’s somewhat reasonably priced at $350 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features, versatility, and performance.
