Customers say
Customers find the metal nibbler to be better than jigsaw or tin snips, working well with both corded drills and impact drivers, and cutting through thin sheet metal like butter. The tool is easy to use with a quick learning curve, comes with extra parts including spare nibblers and punch rods, and customers consider it an excellent value. The curve cutting ability receives positive feedback, with customers able to make perfect circles, though opinions about durability are mixed, with some saying it should last a lifetime while others report it breaking within a month.

Warning! The shavings are extremely sharp!
I chose this nibbler over an electric metal shear, mostly because I already have too many tools. I guess a man can never have âtoo many toolsâ… but what I hate the most is an electric tool that I will only use a handful of times a year.. if that. They take up space and the worst thing with buying a tool which only has one purpose… is exactly that! The propriety function of a sheet metal shear and the fact that itâs just one more thing that can fail on me, makes me think twice about shelling out the extra cash. This nibbler is cheap, compact, comes with a spare cutter and also has 2 spare heads…. one of which is on the opposite side of the tool… itâs function being beyond me. It doesnât cut as fast as an electric shear… it only nibbles a tiny crescent shaving at a time… but it does the job and isnât horribly slow. One advantage this has over an electric shear is that you can make really tight radius cuts with ease.. for example, the corners of a square cut.Warning! The shavings are extremely sharp and hard to see on the floor. I have been pulling these little half moon pieces of metal out of the soles of my shoes and have been poked a couple times when kneeling on the floor. They hurt like hell and can get stuck in you, so be careful. I ended up finishing my cuts with my piece inside a big plastic tub to catch the shavings. Made cleanup a breeze but somehow I still managed to get some pieces scattered around.I canât see this chewing through 16 gauge metal for too long. Youâll probably wear down the tiny lip on the cutting bit real quick or possibly breaking something inside the gearbox. I havenât opened it up but I canât imagine it being constructed of anything other than pot metals like the rest of this thing. After cutting 3 roughly 12âx12â squares on some 20 gauge metal, the gearbox itself was noticeably warm to the touch… maybe should pop that apart and pack it with some grease. Anyway, did the job for me and Iâll probably reach for this thing another 2… maybe 3 times this year. Iâll bet it will last long enough for my use. If you plan on doing extensive metal work… maybe just get the nice electric shears which cut many times faster than this and will likely hold up to continuous use a lot longer.

I’ve used this a lot! YES, it works great with an impact driver!
I build screen rooms and patio covers professionally. I bought this to cut holes in rain gutters to install downspouts. Not just the thin gutters like on a house but also thick rigid aluminum gutters that are sometimes used on patio covers and screen rooms. Not sure of the thickness but it barely fits into the opening on this tool. Probably thicker than the tool is rated for. This tool has been a game changer as it’s faster, safer to use AND makes a better opening than other methods I’ve used. No more sharp edges for the customer to cut themselves on when cleaning the gutters! When I work with other guys they look as it like a toy until they see how quickly and cleanly I complete the task. After that they want to know where I got it!I’ve used it a lot and it’s held up very well. I did break one of the heads when I first got it but I was cutting the heavy aluminum and twisted it in a way that broke it. It was my fault and hasn’t happened again since I got the hang of it. I’ve cut a lot of that material and it eats it up. Thankfully it comes with spare parts.Once you get the hang of it you can cut all sorts of curves and shapes pretty easily. Some things I’ve learned:It works great with an impact driver. I think better than a drill. I only use it with an impact driver with the quick release. I use the same driver for the included drill bit and the cutting tool. swapping between them is very quick. The cutting tip gets HOT with thick material. Hot enough to raise a blister if you touch it after cutting. This was with material that was probably too thick. If I’m cutting a lot of thick material I switch between heads to let one cool off. It still eats up that thick material easily.A little oil on each tip before every use helps keep it running smooth and not as hot. It also keeps the cut material from sticking and clogging. It does eject small sharp pieces of material as it’s cutting. It doesn’t throw them around but if you’re using it above your head like I do you need safety glasses.Bottom line. I use it on every job I do and it has held up very well. If it were to break I would pull out my phone and order another one on the spot.

A great tool for any hobbyist.
I thought this would be awkward when I first opened it, but it really does a clean and quick job on nibbling away.

Works like a dream.
Works like a dream! Set up takes just a few seconds. I cut out large holes in a Jeep hood for vents in just a few minutes. Cuts smooth and precise. Leaves little fingernail clipping shaped shards of metal as it cuts, so you may want to lay a drop sheet beneath your work area for easy clean up. Or you could just vacuum them up.

Nice tool
Looks like a nice tool. Iâd never got to use it yet. I think you do a good job and what I wanted to do with it.

Works well but you really, really need a template if you want precision
First of all, this is a nicely made product and nicely packaged. Even includes an extra anvil and an extra punch rod.In use, it does a nice job – leaving a nice, clean slot (I was using it on 0.055″ sheet metal – probably mild steel).BUT!! Well, you know there would be a ‘BUT’. It is not easy to use. The line you are trying to follow on the sheet metal is hidden a bit by the nibbler tip. So, for any accuracy, you really should make us a simple template or guide so you can press the ‘tip’ against it. You also have to hold the tip down so the tip edge is riding on the sheet metal. One more reason to have a guide of some sort. You should also secure the piece you are working on because you are going to be very busy guiding the rather cumbersome nibbler head and drill combination.Despite the above comments it does nice work and does leave a nice clean edge. It is really cutting a round hole and not a square or rectangular hole. And it is quick! Hint: keep the bit and anvil well oiled.
