Very adaptable for unusual door/passage widths
We live in an older home, and the doors and hallways do not follow a standard width. This gate âSafety 1st Easy Install Auto-Close Baby Gate with Pressure Mount Fasteningâ is able to fit in both the narrow kitchen door frame and the wider hallway in the home. Our child (at age one) is a climber, and our entire home had to be changed to prevent such behavior. This gate is a lifesaver, as even with his continued efforts to climb over it, he has never even gotten close.Setup and sturdiness are appropriate for floor level installs, but if you have stairs (as we do off the back of the house), use a more directly mounted system instead of this pressure mount system. The âauto-latchâ system on this gate is decent, though the amount of pressure you apply to mount the gate to the wall/frame surface will directly impact its function. It works well in our install and application, but may be problematic if the pressure you need to install it is greater or less than that that will influence the gate latch. I would hope that future versions of the product will reduce/eliminate the mounting pressure to latch function.

Best gate to have for kids!
Very glad i chose these gates! I bought 1 for our down steps and just bought another for the steps going upstairs. Love that they automatically close and lock!!! A must have featur! I have a baby and a toddler so i dont have to worry that my toddler left a gate open. Very sturdy and install was pretty easy. Has a nice wide opening. My only small complaint is that 1 of my gates, the latch is a little harder to work then the other. 1 is extremely easy to press and the other takes a little more muscle. Not a big deal but i may return and see if i get an easier one, my toddle has had trouble with it at times. I would definately recommend this gate!

Perfect & sturdy except the semi-loud clicking sound when opening
Pros: Very sturdy, grandson tried to shake it open and could not. My son put it together very quickly and easily. I like the option of putting down the flap, I guess is the word on the bottom so it prevents it from locking when I choose. In description it used for not swinging but I use it to prevent locking when needed.Cons: Make noise when I open. Clicking sound I do not care for, kinda loud. That is the reason for lower star.

Lubricate the lock box if yours is hard to open!
I would have given this gate 1 star because within a day it got SO hard to open the unlock pinch mechanism. It angered me every time I had to go through it. But in the process of setting up a return – it suggested that I lubricate the locking mechanism. We didnât even need to take it apart, we just sprayed lubricant in all the cracks of the lock box and now it works like butter! Took us from a 1 star to 5 star. Love the auto-shut feature too.

Locking mechanism wonât unlock!
Weâve had this gate installed for less than a week. It was easy to install and was great for the first day. The first couple of days my 5 yo could easily open it and go in and out (we got this to hold in my 18 mo).The first thing to start giving us issues was the autolock. At first it was that you couldnât let it close gentlyâyou just had to let it swing shut. Ok, thatâs easy enough. But then even when weâd let it swing it would swing through the lock and then settle in the unlock position. And then weâd push it closed. Itâs not a big deal, but if we werenât fast enough my son would come barreling through. Ugh.The next thing to start giving us issues was the lock on the bottom of the gate. This lock is great if you want to limit the direction you can open the gate. So, if you want it to only open one way, you can move the little plastic lever on whichever side and it keeps it from opening. Well, one side started to fall just slightly. Not enough to notice when you looked down, but just enough so that you could see it had fallen if you look from the side. It was enough to keep us from being able to open it up and weâd have to bend down and adjust it each time. Still, not great, but itâs still doing its job and the door still basically works. This morning my daughter woke up and asked me to come help her open the gate because itâs been getting increasingly difficult to press the button and it had finally gotten to be too much for her little hands. I went to try it and it was STUCK. I tried with both hands but still couldnât get it. I tried messing with the tension of the gate⦠still nothing. I am 5â3â and the gate is as low as we could get it on the floor and Iâm just BARELY tall enough to step over the gate. My mom is a little shorter than I am and not quite as stable on her feet so stepping over it is not an option. So, now, I have a gate that is keeping everyone under 5â3â out of the kitchen ð¤¬ð¤¬ð¤¬.Iâm not the only one whoâs had this issue. Wtf is the point of a gate with a door if the door is just going to stay locked? I couldâve spent half as much and gotten the same thing ð. Returning.

WD40 necessary
Pros: Cheap, extremely easy to install, auto close and lock work as advertised, lock actually requires pushing both buttons (not true of some other gates)Cons: Out of the box is extremely sticky latch (2 handed squeeze to pull the trigger and lock stuck in the open position unless with force). Had to spray WD40 and loosen screws on the lock mechanism to free up the lock to both be opened as intended. Plastic components look and feel cheap.Quality of components is lower than that of competitors and was not particularly functional out of the box, but once loosened up it does work as advertised.

great product
We use these to contain our dogs it certain areas of the house when we don’t want them to have “all access.” They work great. Super easy to install. The installation doesn’t damage the walls. I bought an earlier version of this that didn’t automatically close but it closed easily. The auto-close is nice. Both versions have levers at the bottom of the gate that you can flip down if you don’t want to keep the gate latched. They allow you or your dog or child to just push through the gate without having to unlock the top latch every time you pass through. It’s nice to have the option to keep it latched or give my dogs free access to all rooms without having to uninstall it.

Si me gustó.
