Pretty Decent Power Station For The Money
It’s been in the news lately that there is a high risk of energy emergencies during peak summer conditions. Nothing worse than experiencing rolling blackouts with no back up power available. So I decided I’d better be proactive and find some backup power sources to use during blackouts. I already purchased a solar generator but also wanted some small power stations. So I took this opportunity to check out this Southwire 53251 Elite 300 Series Portable Power Station and found that it is suitable for my needs. It’s not as heavy as other power stations I own and It is rated for 296 watt hours, making it great for powering a variety of my devices such as: cell phones, a mini fridge, laptop, tablet, slowcooker, tv and small fans.I like that it shows the amount of wattage being used while also displaying how much wattage hours I have left. This unit takes about 4.5 hours to charge but what I really like, is if I use the AC & USB C PD cables at the same time, it can charge in 2.5 hours. I don’t have this option with another power station I own. I think this is a pretty decent power station for the money.

    Only worked 3 times!
After fully charging and then discharging the unit stopped working. The screen just blinks and smell like burnt electronics.

    Back up power
I am happy to have this little unit to give me a few hours of power should I need it. I could plug my freezer into it or my cell phone charger or whatever. Gives me some peace of mind to have it. In addition I can use it outdoors etc. to get some power.

    Very nice portable power
Using on a golf cart to power multiple items. Like the size, the display and the ease of use.

Something not right in with the product
I got it today and charged it to 100% after opening the box. I ran it with my fan for about 30 minutes and then tried to switch to another AC USB multiport cellphone charger. However, the system shut down automatically. No matter what I do or which button I push, the system remains unresponsive unless I recharge it with the AC charger. After recharging with the AC charger, the system starts working again, but two red signs appear in the upper right corner briefly before disappearing and everything appears normal. However, when I try to open the AC outlet by pressing the AC button, the system shuts down again. Please see the video. Something must be wrong either with the software or the internal hardware, which I suspect is triggering the shutdown.

Unit is Fantastic, but Solar Panel Challenging
I absolutely love my SouthWire Power Pack but am baffled why I cannot connect it to a waterproof solar panel, which means I can’t charge this via solar panel when it’s freezing or wet outside. I ordered a waterproof solar panel, but apparently because of Southwire’s proprietary port, it won’t connect. I ordered the SouthWire Solar Panel but it is limited to 100 watts and cannot be used in freezing or wet weather. My purpose for buying this was to connect to small appliances if the grid goes out and I live in a cold climate. (I charged a heating pad and after 3 hours, it went down from 100 percent charged to 98 percent. Wow!) So I’m left debating whether to return it and try a different brand that connects to a higher wattage solar panel. Advice is welcomed.
