Looks good, the programming could be easier. Works great for an electric fan heater
I replaced a manual 220V kick-space electric heater/fan thermostat with this Stelpro programmable thermostat. This thermostat is specifically designed for this kind of electric resistive heat and fan application. Hardware and wirenuts are included in the kit. I like the design of the wall mount for the thermostat; it’s substantial. Installation was straightforward, and the instructions were easy to understand. I found that programming the thermostat could be improved; from a usability perspective, itâs not very intuitive. I assume the thermostat stores settings / keeps time even if power is lost. In case it doesnât, or if you need to change the scheduled temperature setpoints, I would keep the programming instructions filed away where you can find them when needed. As far as programming functionality, itâs along the lines of setting the day and time. There are two modes for setting temp setpoints: weekday and weekend, with wake, leave, return, and sleep logic. This programming scheme is on par with many thermostats. Performance-wise, it seems to work fine, both in programmed and manual mode. The thermostat is made from high-quality materials, and the fit and finish are excellent. I like the design of the thermostat; it’s pretty big and a bit obtrusive, which might make it look out of place in some settings. The thermostat features touch controls molded into the plastic faceplate, making them easy to use. It has simple left and right touch controls to decrease/increase the temperature setpoint manually. The display is easy to read and is backlit when being used. Stelpro has a good web presence and likely good support. The thermostat comes with a three-year warranty.

This is a great solution for those places where a programmable or smart thermostat is not needed. I am using it in my attached garage with 4000W worth of fan heaters. The thermostat maintains the temperature reasonably constant, operates silently, and is very flexible being able to drive resistive as well as fan forced loads. Installation was uneventful (just like any other thermostat), and well documented in the instructions. I wish it was double pole (it is not), but other than this I found it a great piece of hardware which I am very happy with and I can recommend.The only quirk I noticed is that on extended runs the left side (presumably where the high power TRIAC is located) heats up noticeably (measured at above 30C surface temperature). This was confirmed as normal by Stelpro, within a very good response time which demonstrates by the way good customer service. The downside is that this heat affects the reading of the built-in temperature sensor, with the consequence of the thermostat cutting off the load prematurely and restarting it after a short time (as soon as the TRIAC temperature goes down). The end result is still correct, it is just that the target temperature is reached with brief pauses and the process takes a bit longer. Such an issue is only manifest on longer runs (when the temperature drops significantly such as when I open the garage door in very cold weather) and since it happens relatively rarely and does not affect the target temperature in the end, I will regard it as a quirk rather than a serious issue.
