Absolutely great rack, but you’ll have to pay extra for security features.
The rack is excellent in my 2″ receiver. It does not wobble at all and it is sturdy enough that I could pull myself off the ground using it after I installed it. Held 3 bikes just fine. The first time I put 3 bikes on it, it took a moment or two to figure things out. They came off of the rack easily and putting all three back on took less than 5 minutes including incorporating a cable lock to my hitch receiver and through all the bikes. On that note, only 1 star for security features since I had to spend an additional $30 buying a locking pin from Swagman because it is specific to their mounts. I also am using my own cable lock in case we want to stop and leave the bikes mounted and secure. These features could just as easily be included with the purchase of the rack. Otherwise, don’t think you need to spend 400 or 600 bucks for a quality rack because this one is fantastic!

It’s OK, a little heavy and cumbersome to mount, could use some locks
My old Swagman started to fall apart after many, many years, so I got this one. Already had a trailer hitch installed on my car so this fit perfectly. It is really heavy duty, with emphasis on HEAVY and can be a challenge to mount if you are in a hurry. It would be nice, as others have mentioned, if it included some type of locking mechanism. Otherwise, it has held up well over time. I guess if someone tried to steal it while you are out riding they would probably conk themselves on the head and you would come back to a partially detached bike rack and a knocked out thief.

Solid and well built
Extremely well built. Weâve used it on our truck receiver and bought a receiver to go on the square bumper on our new RV. I donât find the feature thatâs supposed to allow you to drop the bikes down all that convenient to use but given the choice of a strong, well-built carrier and one that drops down, Iâll take strong any day. We have two rather cumbersome beach bikes so we both lift them and the three bike rack carries them without damage from rubbing. I donât think theyâd fit well on the two bike model.

Decent bike rack, but need to know Metal Shop 101
We bought the last one in stock, and wondered if there was something wrong with it. When attempting to install the rack onto a 2″ hitch, noticed that the bolt didn’t screw in. Learned from reading many reviews of bike racks NEVER to force it in, so took it out. Read online that the threads in the receiver may have some bits and pieces of excess metal (due to hasty manufacturing) that was causing the bolt to get stuck. Found out that this can be easily fixed if you “clean up” the threads in the receiver using a 1/2″ steel drill tap (and WD-40). Bought one for $5 and screwed in the tap just like you would the bolt. The drill tap took off the excess metal. Tried the bolt next, and screwed into the receiver hole nicely.A similar situation happened with the top of the rack: the hole for the folding arms was too small for the bolt on one side, and needed to be widened. No problem. Spent another $5 to buy a round metal file, and filed inside the hole, widening it. Problem solved. Now many customers don’t want to take the time and money to fix these minor annoyances. They want the product to be perfect and easily installed. But the product is solid, and under normal circumstances would receive 5 Stars. Because of the extra work, must give it 3 Stars.

Great rack
This is a great bike rack. It’s easy to install, not too heavy, and carries my bike securely. My only complaint is that in order to get the rubber cradles to function as anti-sway, I have to put the bike all the way to one side or the other, which makes the bike stick out. If I carried 2 bikes, it would even out and probably not be a bother, but when I look in the mirrors and see my bike stick out on one side, it sometimes surprises me. Regardless, it does its job well. Like I said, I have only used it for a single bike, but I think it will function just fine with multiple.

I ABSOLUTELY do not recommend this bike rack or any Swagman product because of misleading advertising and poor customer support.
I’ve had this bike rack since June 2014. I usually carry 3 bikes but unfortunately it’s already started to bend due to the weight even though the weight of the 3 bikes is under 100 lbs. The tongue is simply too weak. I do not recommend this bike rack.UPDATE 5/13/15: I’ve taken this review down to 1 star. I wish I could give ZERO stars. After much research I found that Swagman’s advertising is misleading AND they won’t sell me the parts I need to fix my current rack. First the advertising, their Trailhead series is advertised as 35 lbs per bike but their instructions limit you to 100 lbs EVEN ON THE TRAILHEAD 4. So in essence you’re losing 40 lbs of weight carrying capacity on the Trailhead 4. I found this information from their own website by viewing the instructions of each of the Trailhead products. Now for the parts, after much research I found that I could use the 2″ receiver bar and the triangular gussets from their Trailhead 4 RV rack to fix my current rack. This would give me the weight carrying capacity AND the fold down capability but they refuse to sell me the parts. They sell parts, but only for racks you already own. I messed up by telling them the truth that I don’t own the Trailhead 4 RV.

RV Hitch rack
Weâve only used this on 1 trip but it worked perfectly for 2 bikes on an 1800 mile trip. Straps are very secure and it Held the bikes with no wobble or shaking. One person can manage installation and mounting of bikes but 2 people make it easier Added a hitch lock and bike chain to deter theft.

TERRIBLE PRODUCT!
WORSE PRODUCT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT! I HAD OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS OF BIKES ON THIS RACK, ONE ADULT AND TWO CHILDRENS AND IT SWAYED ALL OVER THE PLACE, ENDED UP BENDING AND I ALMOST LOST THEM. ATTACHED TO AN F150 AND ONLY DROVE 4 HOURS. THE RECEIVING BAR IS WAY TOO SMALL AND THE WEIGHT CAPACITY IS 100 PDS WHICH IS NOT IN THE DESCRPTION. I RETURNED IT FOR A REFUND.

Solid and fits securely on the back of my vehicle. Holds three bicycles with no issues. And it goes on and off easily, with the wrench I keep handy. Also comes with an adapter so it will work on either size trailer hitch.

Solid carrier. Comes fully assembled ready to use. The rubber bike holder part (3 on each shaft) that hold the bikes can be moved along the shaft to accommodate different bike sizes. This however does result in some shifting during transport, but the design would never allow it to come off during transport, so it seems ok. Good value, would recommend if you don’t want to spend $400 on a name brand.

Wonderful! Great design, quality and solid stable fit. Perfect for small car with a 1 1/4 ” hitch receiver. A bit tight with three bikes, might require stem (handlebar) adjustment and pedal removal for larger bikes. Swagman do it right.

The adapter for the 2 inch hitch does not work.I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the rack doesn’t work with my hitch that comes directly from Jeep. There is too much space, and the rack can’t hold in place and be stable. Really disappointing. There doesn’t seem to be any adjustment possible.Do not buy this product if you have a 2 inch hitch. The sizes don’t work.

Had to return it, did not work with our bikes, not enough space between holders.Seems like a nice product, but not ideal
