Renewing your mind will lead to a transformed life.
Have you been feeling weighed down by worry? Or caught up in a web of self-critical thoughts? The good news is that with God’s help, you can learn to renew your mind, break free from negative patterns, and become a little more like Jesus every day. This six-session Bible study explores three scripture-based tools for managing your thoughts:
Practice Picky Thinking: Monitor the airspace of your thoughts and don’t allow the destructive ones to land.Identify UFOs: Scan for any untruths that are creating false narratives that are leading to overreactions.Uproot and Replant: Don’t let the ugly weeds of Satan’s lies grow. Pull them up by the roots and replace them with God’s truth.
These three tools will help you take every thought captive and test the messages that replay in your mind against the truth of God’s Word. You will also learn to overcome common thought traps like anxiety, guilt, rejection, dissatisfaction, and more. No matter who you are or where you come from, progress is possible.
The Audio Bible Studies series provides a unique audio learning experience. Unlike a traditional audiobook’s direct narration of a book’s text, this audio Bible study includes high-quality, live audio sessions from the author that cover important Bible-based topics. These sessions will reflect the ambiance of the unique recording locations, immersing the listener into the teaching. While not required for the audio experience, these studies are designed to partner with the coordinating study guide, sold separately.

Be prepared for personal surprises and progress
Max Lucado tells us that your thoughts are NOT out of control. They can and should be tamed. He covers several areas of thought management in a very helpful and Bible-driven way. Lucado has always been a master storyteller, and he uses that gift to bring great illustrations. Never leaving it theoretical, he offers practical tips on how we can indeed tame our thoughts. In that area, I have to say that his attempt at coming up with memorable acronyms didn’t connect well with me. Still, this is a very helpful book and if you take the time to meditate on the chapter-ending questions, I predict you will find some problem areas in your thought life that need to be addressed.

Practical Biblical truths with lasting impact for reaching approach
From the onset I can appreciate that all you have to purchase is the study guide. That the video streaming is included with the purchase and thereâs a QR code conveniently placed on the front cover page which makes for quick and easy access on the go. I was able to pull up of the video material right on my phone. All I needed was an email address and password I wasnât prompted to enter all of my personal information and within a minute I had access to all the videos. Yes I know it sounds like another power of positive thinking message but itâs not. What Iâm really enjoying about this is this isnât theory and a slue of slogans but thereâs actually scripture for each statement that Max Lucado makes. And yes, there are still the positive slogans ( â¦.itâs Max Lucado, what can you expect) but the word of God is the main focus. And he provides scripture to backup each claim. The introduction is very relevant for the world we live in today. Without becoming politically charged the topic is on target with the world we are currently facing. The need for each one of us to take authority over the ideas that we are feed that effect our thought life negatively and challenges us to change the way we think. The study guide is also made of good quality paper thickly bound paperback book that will hold up overtime. The video quality in itself is very sharp and clear and once again I love that I can watch the videos wherever and whenever I can.I really enjoy his teaching style how heâs providing biblical tools on how to align your thoughts to the truths found in Godâs word. And how you can see and expect results. He includes sound scripture to back it up. Then he gives practical situations in each session and solutions on the how to apply these rules to your life. How to actually take authority and manage the thoughts (he calls them âstinking thinkingâ that are passing through as suggestion, what we allow and the thoughts we can refuse to indulge in.As a small group leader if this is your first time leading a small group or a veteran you will appreciate that everything is included in this one study guide and you wont need to purchase a separate leaders guide. The benefit of this not only brings the value of this bible study up to 10 but it add value to group participants because they can re-watch videos and or get prepared for the next weeks session. There is definitely a lot to cover in this 6 week so it is suggested that you get the book to read as well if you want to dive deeper but itâs not necessary for you understand and experience some growth during this small group time. This is a small group leaders dream curriculum because it provides you with ice breaker questions and helps with breaking down the expected time flow for each section. I know when I first started leading small groups keeping things flowing on time was real issue for me. Having this guide is extremely helpful in the beginning and takes the guess work out of it.I love that this bible study really keeps the new believer in mind. By not boggling the text down with âChritianizeâ but brings in real world examples and statics to back up claims such as research showing that 42% of teenagers dealing with severe depression and scientific studies showing how the brain reacts to positive vs negative input then walks you straight to the word of God showing you that this is exactly what the word says. That our thoughts do shape our future.Does this study go deep into all the childhood trauma that had an effect on the way we think. No, it doesnât but I think that may be good thing. Because going that deep in my opinion takes a lot longer then 6 weeks and a lot more spiritual training and guidance. But does it address the lies that we allow ourselves to believe that trap us in anxiety and despair. It does address the ever-changing societal pressures to conform that we each no matter the age face every day. And gives us biblical tools that we can use in a practical and biblical way to stop being a victim of the negative thoughts that have been running rent free in our minds and find some comfort, confidence and peace in our everyday lives. Yes, I believe it can, if you allow it.Again, I love that it gives you real world scenarioâs and challenges you to ask yourself what âuntruths have you embracedâ what does Godâs word/truth say about that? And what are you willing to do about it?I love that this study goes beyond observation but goes to okay now what are you going to do about it.Itâs a beautiful and thought-provoking study. And I love that the price point makes it accessible to everyone. I get so frustrated with so many other Bible study curriculums that charge an arm and a leg to use their resource but thatâs for another post. The study offers great value for an extremely affordable price itâs as if they care more that you receive the message that God has for you, then they care about receiving a profit. ð I would definitely recommend this small group study for the group or even for the individual although I do suggest you do it with at least one other person as Iron sharpens iron. Itâs so much better to not go it all alone. I love all the free resources which makes this a far reaching approach that can benefit even your most reserved group members.

This author is consistently amazing
Max Lucado is an exceptional writer and I have enjoyed several of his previous works. Finding myself at a point in my life that I needed a little direction and a good pick me up…. really need some tools in my toolbox to get through some of the changes in my life and this could not have come at a better time.Certainly I share the stress gene with many folks and these days it seems to lay a little heavier on the heart. I needed this book, we needed this book as my husband and I are adjusting to life without kids and starting down the retirement road which changes our relationship significantly. I know, retirement is supposed to be all rainbows and unicorns but what they don’t tell you is it often comes with deep dark shadows that mask themselves as medical problems, adult children worries, and relationship changes not to mention just plain old coming to terms with getting older and not as quick at chores as we once were. This book came at the absolute best time for us and we are enjoying and benefitting from it as we work through the lesson plans. It comes with online video tutorials but we haven’t visited those yet but hope to soon. The book is a good pleasant read and very well done. It is well laid out and organized with sections that really hit home. Thank Max… appreciate all of your efforts in writing this… I sure needed some help “taming my thoughts” and getting ahead of the stress in my life.

Great for Bible study groups!
I’ve always been a fan of Max Lucado’s books. This is the first time I have tried one of his study guides. He writes in a way that is easy to understand and helps you to apply Biblical truths to everyday life. The study guide is set up with 6 sessions. Each session has two parts, a group study section and a personal study section to do on your own. The group section starts with a welcome section for each person to read on their own before the group meets and then a connect “ice breaker” section to get the group conversation started. Then there is a video to watch, which you can stream online. There is an outline for the video and a section to take notes. Then there are discussion questions and a “respond” section where each person reads to themselves a Bible scripture and takes a few minutes to answer a couple of questions following it. Then each section ends with prayer. They left space in the book to write down prayer requests. I led a small group Bible study for a few years and this would’ve been very helpful to facilitate the group, especially when you are new to leading a group. The topic of renewing your mind is something that everyone can benefit from. Lots of different examples of how this is done in various life struggles helps to make this applicable to everyone. Highly recommend.
