A great camera to start off with when setting up security camera s
During the initial testing period so far this is a great camera. The dual screen is a very nice feature.The 2K 3MB video is right on for the location is being tested. The fixed camera covers the whole area under surveillance and the PTZ has a 1 X and a 4 X zoom camera buttons to chose. The pan tilt feature makes it possible to look in areas not visible by the fixed camera.No subscription is needed to use all the features and the AI detection allows you to select Auto, Person, Animal, and Motion options and a host of Sound detection options.Over all this is a great camera I will update when I have used more of the freatures.

Camera is pretty good a couple of things could make it perfect.ProsGood price for what you get, stationary camera and a pan and tiltNo complaints on the picture.night vision not as good as the c325wb that this replaced 325 has ColorPro which is better but this camera is decent.Tracking works well and I like how the fixed camera communicates to the pt camera to track somthing out of the pt’s view.Easy setup as with all tapo cameras.I use rtsp stream to my synology nas to record, no issues.ConsWifi only, no ethernet. For stability and security wired connection is always better. It’s disapointing they moved away from having this option, as it was available on previous cameras.As with all tapo cameras there is no power over ethernet option even the older models that have ethernet port don’t have this. It’s unfortunate as it would make install very simple and cleaner.Power cord could be longer for outdoor installs. The usb c end is designed to help keep water out and is a 90 degree which is good but if you use a standard 90 degree usb extension you may have issues with water and the usb port in extreme weather. A good solution is to use the wyze 20ft extension cable , it’s a usb A type extension cable with cover. You can use that combined with the oem tapo cable to get more lenth and keep it waterproof.Tapo should offer these extension cables instead of having to buy from a competitor.Overall I give an 8 out of 10. Pretty good but could of been perfect with a few tweaks, I would of gladly paid more for ethernet ability and color pro night vision.Now just waiting for h500 to be available on Amazon canada so I can give that a try 🙂

Excellent little, low cost, camera with really great features
Excellent, low cost, camera for watching wildlife. The programming features are pretty extensive and when the upper fixed position camera see’s motion, the lower PTZ camera follows the action while both cameras record it all on a micro SD card. I’m a retired Security Tech and even thought these are not high end professional units, they have way more capabilities than the expensive cameras I worked with. Well worth the purchase. Also, these cameras can also be integrated with NVR’s (Like Reolink) for recording – note that the PTZ feature does not work within the NVR software)

Disappointing performance compared to other Tapo models.
I own four different camera models from the Tapo (Tp-Link) brand, and until now, Iâve been really satisfied with their quality and reliability.Unfortunately, the C246D stands out for all the wrong reasons.The camera arrived with a slightly rotated pan/tilt lens that wasnât centered to the default position, which made setup awkward.Beyond that, itâs overly sensitiveâdetecting shadows movements on windy days as person and frequently mistaking bugs as a person.One of the strangest issues is its tendency to interpret bird sounds as a baby crying or Cat/Dog barks or broken glass, which makes the alerts unreliable and confusing.This appears to be a misclassification in the motion or sound detection algorithm, possibly due to rapid movement or ambient noise resembling glass breakage.Further calibration or adjustment of sensitivity settings may be needed to reduce false positives.However, this continues to trigger alerts even when motion detection is turned off and most sensitivity-related settings are set to their lowest levels.Itâs clear this model isnât designed for outdoor use, despite its appearance.The latest problem involves video alerts showing duplicated videos, and many of those clips canât be downloaded or viewed.Iâve tested and formatted the memory card, reset the camera, and still encounter the same glitch intermittently.Compared to my other Tapo cameras, this one feels unfinished.Iâd recommend sticking with the more proven models until these bugs are resolved.Until this issue is resolved, Iâm giving this model a one-star rating. These persistent false alertsâespecially during the nightâcan be highly disruptive and concerning.

Powerful combo!
Great combo especially with all the smart detection and tracking features that are NOT locked behind paywalls. The stationary camera has a nice wide view. I do wish the zoom lens was stronger or you could swap out lenses for stronger ones, but my use case is a bit more than most. It still works great looking out over large horse pastures. I am also running these (2) on a small solar setup with no problems. Image quality is great, I’ve even taken some snapshots from the cam. Low light sunset pic for example. Really happy with the value you get with Tapo and being able to use the cameras full functionality without subscriptions.
