AMAZING
I had to wait a bit to write my review after ordering so I could get my handyman install it for me. He put the solar panel up near the roof line, and the camera a bit down from there.THIS is my 4th purchase of the TP-Link security products. I started with the little home cameras to keep an eye on my husband (who was bedridden and on hospice) so I would know when me moved in bed or if he needed me. It was incredibly cheap and so high quality I was astounded.THIS camera is also amazing. The picture quality is very clear, even at night. I had to play with the options so it wouldn’t be notifying me of movement every time the neighbor’s cat ran across the yard. You can use the microphone or not. Use the sound, or not.I put an SD card in it so I can take photos if I like or have it make videos….right now I have that turned off but I will perhaps turn it on later.I already had the Tapo app on my phone so it took all of 10 seconds to get this set up. My handyman was up on the ladder while I told him which way to aim the camera. No problems. Easy peasy.This is such a great product, I ordered another TP Link security camera to put out back that uses USB C cable to charge. It will come off the holder easily to take in to charge.LOVE this camera.

Iâm a senior woman and I had this Tapo cam mounted under my eaves and set up in no time. Itâs the perfect solution for being able to have a security cam where I canât have a hardwired one, and it works just as well as my Ring and SimpliSafe cams that are hardwired.The picture quality is clear, voice is clear, itâs easy to use the app, and it connects easily to my WiFi (thanks to my TP Link Deco system which gave me coverage where I had none (or poor) where I needed to mount this camera).**BATTERY LIFE** – I installed this camera 4+ months ago and the battery is at 73% now, so I can easily believe the claim of a 6-month battery life. Where I have it there isnât an extraordinary amount of activity like there is with my doorbell camera that goes off two dozen times a day, but it does pick up motion at least 5 or 6 times a day, so Iâm really happy with the battery life. I bought a solar panel for it, but havenât installed it yet because the battery life has been so good.I put an SD card in it, but I havenât checked it so I canât say much about that.You can easily set areas to detect or not detect motion, and that feature works really well.I have 3 Ring cams and a SimpliSafe doorbell camera, and this inexpensive Tapo battery cam works as well as they do. ALL of them occasionally drop their connection (so far they all reconnect on their own), so I canât take a star away for connectivity when practically every device I have has the same random, occasional issue.Weâve had heavy rains, snow/freezing temps and Iâve had no issues at all. It is under an eave, so I canât say how it functions when fully exposed to the elements.The light is good. It wonât light up your entire yard, but it is bright and lights up the area around it sufficiently, imo.Iâd actually give it 4.5 stars if I could because it isnât âperfectâ, but I havenât found a device that functions â5-star perfectâ 100% of the time. What is âperfectâ is the battery life and being able to easily mount this camera practically anywhere.I initially had trouble connecting to the camera from my phone, and the app would repeatedly say that the camera was âofflineâ. I was about to return it, and then I realized my phone had to be on my home WiFi to connect to it. I never used to keep my WiFi on, on my phone, but now I do and I have no problems connecting to the camera. Thatâs the only difference I can see between this camera and my Ring cameras. My WiFi doesnât have to be on to connect to them, and I think thereâs a setting I havenât figured out to remedy this. I havenât seen any other complaints about this issue, so I suspect it’s âuser errorâ on my part.***Before you mount it (or any other WiFi device) I strongly recommend getting the TP-Link âWiFi Toolkitâ app on your phone. It allows you to walk around your house or property and see how good or bad your WiFi signal is at a particular location. This will save you a lot of time and headache when mounting or installing a device, especially one that is hardwired that you canât check until youâve gone through the trouble of installing it. Very handy app.Anyway, I highly recommend this Tapo battery cam. Itâs easy to install, works well, has a great picture and sound, the light is good, it doesnât send random alerts, and itâs definitely the right price.

This camera is excellent! The setup was quick and very easy, and the solar panel keeps the battery charged all the timeâno need to worry about constantly recharging it. The picture quality is clear and sharp in both day and night, and the color night vision is a great bonus.I really like the motion detection feature; it accurately distinguishes between people, vehicles, and general movement, which reduces false alerts. The app is simple to use, and the option for SD card or cloud storage makes it very flexible.

Fantastic 4K camera
I bought this during Prime Days for $99. Took me all of 5 minutes to install. Amazing 4K resolution. Due to the solar panel its lowest battery percentage has been 99%.I tried the free 30 day cloud storage instead of an SD card and liked it so well I went ahead and bought the annual plan for $35.The app is very easy to navigate.The one and only issue I had was that a tree limb was setting off the car detection for some reason so I turned that off. All I really care about is person detection. Also, the pet detection works great too.Iâm very impressed with this system and for $99 I feel like itâs a no brainer. Iâve compared it to a coworkerâs Ring camera and the resolution is not even comparable. If youâre in the market for a security camera, Iâd suggest your seriously consider the Tapo C460 4K Solar Cam.
