Ultralight Food Hanging System
The Selkirk Design System is perfect for camping, hiking, backpacking, back country fishing, etc. Anytime you have the need for a bear sack, you can use this kit to hang your food & gear safely on a branch.

What Is Included?
1 Bearbag, 1 Rock Sok, 2 Ropes, 2 Carabiners & Waterproof/Tearproof Instructions

Why The Selkirk System?
Have you ever tried tying a rope around a rock, tossing it repeatedly, breaking branches, and finally getting to hang your food from a branch? It’s not fun. Instead, put a few rocks into the Rock Sok and use our 2-to-1 pulley system to quickly & easily hang your food
Fill the ROCK SOK with a few small rocks, then use the ropes and carabiners to create a simple pulley system that easily hoists and stores your food.

Put a couple rocks in the Rock Sok, tie off the rope and easily toss it over a branch. Then our 2-to-1 pulley system makes it as easy as possible to raise your food. The ropes and carabiners act like a pulley – meaning you only need half the pulling force to raise your gear
Discover the Selkirk Advantage: Say goodbye to the tedious task of tying ropes and struggling with branches. Our Food Hanging System, featuring an innovative 2-to-1 pulley mechanism, simplifies the process of hanging your food, making it easier and faster than traditional methods.
Simplified Setup: No more fumbling with rocks and ropes. Simply fill the RockSok with a few rocks, attach the rope, and toss it over a branch. The 2-to-1 pulley system reduces the effort needed to hoist your provisions by half, making setup quick and efficient with our durable, high-quality ropes and carabiners.
Versatile Outdoor Use: The Selkirk Design Food Hanging System is your go-to solution for camping, hiking, backpacking, and any outdoor adventure. Whenever you need to hang food or gear out of reach from wildlife, this kit has you covered. Weighing just 6.5 ounces, the RockSok is lightweight enough to carry on any trip without adding bulk to your pack.
Peace of Mind: Protect your campsite and enjoy your outdoor experience without worrying about unwanted visitors. Whether it’s bears, raccoons, or even your own pets, our system lets you securely hang your food and valuables where only you can access them, ensuring your campsite remains safe and undisturbed.
Comprehensive Kit: Our complete kit includes everything you need: 1 durable bear bag, 1 lightweight RockSok, 2 strong ropes, 2 heavy-duty carabiners, and waterproof, tearproof instructions. With this all-in-one system, you’re fully equipped to hang your supplies securely, no matter where your adventures take you.
Customers say
Customers find the bear bag system easy to use, lightweight, and effective for backpacking and camping in bear country, with well-done instructions and good functionality. However, the durability receives mixed reviews, with several customers reporting that it tore after 4 weekend trips and the carabiners broke on the first night. The value for money also gets mixed feedback, with some saying it’s worth the money while others find it too expensive.

Bear Bag, Rock Sock & Ropes
The Selkirk Bear Bag system served me well on a recent backpacking trip on the Pinhoti Trail. The two rope system worked like a charm and the whole package was light weight and small, making it ideal for backpacking. Kept my food dry and secure.

Grommets Pulling Out Of Bag
Update: They replaced the whole kit without issue so I increased my review to 4 stars. The grommets on the new rock bag seem more secure. I’ll be putting it to use next weekend and will post if I have any new problems. This is a great system and a great price, but durability of the grommets on the rock bag is poor. I only used it for two nights and the grommets are already pulling out of the bag. Maybe I got a defective bag. Quality of the food bag, cords and carabiners seem good. I plan to contact the company for a replacement. I’ll update the review depending on how that goes.

Useful for weekend trips only
1) Ripped second time using it with 9lbs in it, 3 days of food. Very full.2) Did fine one first use with 2 days of food in it, a cup, and a spoon.3) comes with extra rope and carabineer. Not necessary.4) bag was light and at least mine had a obviously sealed seams.Would recommend only for those who intend on using it for short 2 days trips or less.

Really nice design – field tested thumbs up
If you’re like me, when you look at what’s included in this package you think “I could do that for $5”. And that’s true. But this was just the right amount of paracord and the little bag worked so well to hold some rocks and throw – I was really happy with the purchase. Took it into Glacier natnl park for a few nights and it hefted the enclosed bag plus two others – probably 15 pounds total – up up and away from the bears. The double-carabiner system was also really nice as a pulley set up and having some waterproof instructions was great vs. having to figure it out in the fading light as you try to get dinner ready.Efficient, packs small, does the job. I wish I could say that about all of my gear.

Worked great!!
Had a homemade setup but got this. If you are ultralight you might want to do your own thing but if you can have a few more ounces of weight to help with convenience this is a good buy. Used 5x now, nice setup but like I said nothing really magic about it, just packaged well.

Donât recommend for pretty much any situation
The product broke after testing it out. Low quality material. Didnât even get to use it on my actual trip. It is very light and stores a good amount but probably only good for a few pounds, not nearly as much as it claims.

Very handy but used an Osprey dry bag to hang as this bag was a little small for my Bear Vault

Took this camping and it was awesome. We loved the pulley system and having the weighted pouch helped with the whole set up. The bag weathered fine, however I found that it was way too small. Wish it was bigger.

Let’s start with the biggest issue. The “drybag” shouldn’t be labelled as such. It’s thin and the seams aren’t taped. It definitely can’t handle submersion, but I don’t think it could even hand a light-to-moderate rain. It’s also way too small for the intended purpose, especially for a system that can hang 100lbs. I would have gladly paid an extra $20 for the same product but with a larger and more legitimate drybag. As others have pointed out, all of the components of this kit (2*paracord, 2*carabiners, 1*drybag, 1*pouch) are standard items that could be purchased separately. That said, the price of the components (assuming a better drybag) would come out about the same as this. And this is a convenient little kit.The instructions really are water- and tear-proof, though it would have been ideal if they were sewn into the pouch, which would also make them loss-proof.Some tips based on how I use this:- I’ve never had to fill the pouch with rocks or dirt. I find the weight of the second paracord+carabiner placed inside the pouch to be sufficient. I open the instructions in the middle and wrap them around the second (bundled) rope/paracord before stuffing it into the pouch, that keeps the instructions in there safely. Then I clip the second carabiner (which is attached to the second rope) to the carabiner which is clipped the pouch, to ensure the rope doesn’t fall/fly out while throwing the pouch.- The instructions/specs seem to indicate that the ropes are the same length, but the green one was definitely longer than the orange one. The instructions say to use the green rope for the toss and to use the orange rope to create the pulley, but this should be ignored. Use the shorter rope for the toss and the longer rope for the pulley/hoist, since the 2-to-1 pulley mechanism means the pulley rope needs to travel twice as far.- Don’t use the drybag that comes with this. Spend $20-40 on a larger, stronger, and more water/odor proof drybag.- Keep in mind that you can hoist multiple bags at once. If using on a group trip, no need to combines everybody’s stuff into one bag, just clip them all on.
