Great rescource for those who dont know where to begin
our daughter is 13 but due being on the autistic spectrum is nearer to an 8 yr old in her learning ability . she is wonderfully innocent but due to this has experienced severe bullying from children in her own age group . we have now decided to educate her at home to spare her the agony of daily bullying so we were very interested in the chapters relating to coping with bullies and rebuilding her massively damaged confidence and self esteem . we are now on our third read through of the book and each time we find a new gem of information to help us . we both loved the activity ideas which this book is packed with . we were already doing some of the things mentioned but it was great to have a rescource of many more techniques and exercises that we can implement to improve emotional regulation and growth outside of traditional schooling . The book was written very much in language we could undertstand and if we needed to go deeper the reference section is an impressive list of publications and experts that we can look up and learn more . great book thank you .

A must in every parents list of books!!!
I just finished. I couldn’t put my phone down. I usually don’t read non fiction book very often. But this one had my attention from page 1. It is a short 191 page book. So worth it!!! Here are some guides:Page 45. I am so happy to see the reference of books to read with kids. Like I said earlier I wish this was out 20 years ago. There are so many chapter headings geared to age groups. So helpful.Page 114 love the list of accommodations. I have one child who has been diagnosed but does not meet requirements of having help in school even though he has many behavioral issues.I didn’t know there were many different types of therapy. Very well put and explained. Thank you so much.Totally spot on about social media… Lots of book are out dates due to what they were done. Can I just say?Why was this book not written 20 years ago? It would have help me parent so much better. I am wishing this was among my other parenting books!!! It is so well written! Spot on! I have 4 of 5 kids with ADHD!!I am so impressed. This book should be on every parent top 10 book to read.Thank you for allowing me to read such an inspiration and thoughtful book.

This book is a lifeline for parents
“Emotional Regulation for Kids” is a book that every parent should have in their tool chest. The book is about emotional regulation and clearly describes how it shows up in different age groups as well as giving strategies you can implement. This guide also covers feelings, self esteem, peer pressure, the importance of friendship, setting guidelines and boundaries, bullying, ADHD, ADHD medications, various therapies and real life examples of kids who have benefitted.Along with learning everything about emotional regulation, you will also have many strategies and games that you can use to help your child. Tech is a big part of life today and the author discusses the pluses and minuses of them relating to different ages. There are recommendations for age specific digital tools, interactive Tech Activities, gamified apps for Emotional Recognition and printable SEL resources. And I think, most importantly of all, encouragement for parents to be emotional role models and to set up an emotionally healthy home. This book will be a resource for years to come for parents and caregivers and I highly recommend it.

Awesome Book for Parents and Everyone Who Works With Kids!
I absolutely love this book. It’s perfect for parents and anyone who works with kids (Counselors, Social Workers, Coaches, Youth Ministers, Guardian Ad Litems, etc). Emotional regulation is explained in detail and resources and practical strategies are broken down by age. While challenges (such as ADHD) are addressed the resources work for all kids. As a school counselor I’ve used many of these resources and strategies and I can’t wait to try the ones I was not familiar with. If you are a harried parent without much time you could jump to the bulleted strategies and try them immediatley then read the entrie book later. This book is written in an excelled manner so that everyone can benefit from it and jump right to the relevant chapters. The best resource I’ve seen in a long time!

Clear up the Confusion
The author really helps the reader understand the fluctuations in emotions and the importance of learning to regulate them. I found the section on adolescents especially helpful, detailing areas requiring parents’ particular attention, from neurological changes to monitoring social media. Also helpful is that the author introduces scientific methods of behavior therapy in conjunction with fun activities to try. This book is an awesome guide for teaching/learning emotional awareness.

This was a nifty short book covering the range of things that may happen to your child, in terms of emotional issues – for parents of kids aimed 3 – 12. A pretty handy book, and I was impressed by the writing and it came across as authroitative. On the one hand, I was impressed by the writing and how certain sections were referenced to noted authorities, on the other hand, I noticed there is no author given – just “Hopeful Hearts publishing”. For something like this, as important as looking after a child, I’d like to know who the given expert it. People who read these books really want to know the authority of the person behind it.

This book is a great resource for any parent dealing with ADHD, There are great tools that a parent can put into practice right away and fun things to engage the child in. Solid information on medicating and CBT and building emotional resilience. Loved how it was laid out by age of the child, it was a quick way to reference tips and tools on age appropriate resources. Everything from communicating with teachers, dealing with bullying, handling social media and lots of fun games to play with your child. Highly recommend.
