Strong, epoxy-coated, self-tapping deck screws with torx driver..
Years ago there was a specific screw used for deck construction and outdoor work. Then in the early 2000s the chemistry of pressure treating changed and we had to shift to a different coating on screws. These CAMNESMN screws have an epoxy coating which is more resilient than other coatings and works for any kind of wood outdoors. The epoxy coating is especially rust and corrosion resistant. The screws themselves are well made, clean tapped and very strong and resilient. The T25 star/torx drive with six contact points is far superior to the Phillips head or square drivers traditionally used on such screws. With more appendages and greater surface contact there is much more friction to make driving the screws more reliable. Philips are the worst and square drivers are better, but not as good as torx.They are self tapping and have a widely spaced thread so there’s no need to pre-drill and very little risk of cracking the wood. Although intended for pressure treated wood commonly used in scaffolding and deck construction, these are suitable to use in any outdoor applications. The epoxy coating makes them especially resistant to rust and corrosion. The neck is reinforced and there are some vertical protrusions around the bottom side of the head which help the screw to stay in place with repeated freezing and thawings over the years.In addition to using these four maintenance of my decks, I use them for general outdoor applications, like putting up walls around my open rear porch for the winter. Using Phillips and square driver screw heads has been quite frustrating for me for the past 20 years, the torx driver is just so much easier and I don’t throw away as many screws as I used to. Because of my specific applications I’m using the one and a half inch length which costs approximately 50% less than 600 #8 1-1/2â torx screws at Home Depot.

Outstanding screws for wooden fence pickets and more
These screws are well-made to a high quality control standard. I could not find any defective ones. The threads are sharp to bite and hold in wood. The shanks are narrow to minimize splitting, as is the sharp point to cut rather than spread wood fibers.I’m old enough to recall times before the star “Torx” drive was common, and it is simply superior to the old Philips drive and square drive screws. Great gripping, little if any stripping, and if the driver is not exactly perpendicular the star drive is pretty forgiving.The epoxy coating I believe lives up to its claims of superior rust inhibiting long term, though only time will tell for sure. It does seem to be a very durable coating, impervious, and adhered very tightly so the epoxy coating inspires my confidence.The #8 size screw is not that strong for joining two pieces of structural lumber, but it’s perfect for attaching pickets to a rail. These screws in my view are ideally suited for custom building a picket fence. Too small for building a raised bed or compost box.Great longevity with the features that really speed up the building process. Currently twenty-six dollars buy 600 of these screws which is a good value. (It’s 3 lbs 14 oz per my scale, including container) This product earns my recommendation without any reservations.

Overpriced for the quality delivered
These are below average in quality, but priced almost equal to higher quality options. The finish on many of the screws is not well adhered, flaking and stripped in several places exposing the base metal to the elements. They do start very easily and we experienced no issues when driving through PT lumber and pine framing. Haven’t tried them on harder species. Includes 2 bits, neither of which presented any issues when used with an impact driver.Ordering through Amazon is convenient, and these aren’t completely worthless fasteners. For projects where exterior grade screws aren’t critical these may be fine, but given the asking price you’re likely better off with Grip-Rites. I wouldn’t put them into a deck or other exposed structures.

Well manufactured screws for fence installation
Purpose for Product: Installing fence pickets.Product Inspection: Large clear plastic jar with screw lid with handle containing approximately 350- #10x 2.5″tan epoxy coated screws. Points are sharp auger and the threads are coarse.Screw manufacture appears consistent, and the coating is uniformly applied.Two T-25 Torx bits are included.These screws are extremely magnetic.Product Performance: Installed two test screws. The auger sharp point easily penetrated the wood with thecoarse threading embedding the screws securely with no bottom spin or cam out.Broke one screw-in a vise- these things are typically brittle and this one was, but very strong.Summary: Screws performed well in test and no doubt they will secure my fence as needed.There was little coating degradation with installation.Price point seems in line with industry for comparable products.
