Heats well
Hears well. Not too bulky. It can be placed in a small area. The heat blows out nicely and warms my entire room. This room was an addition that had no heating. Worked really good to warm that room even when cold air was coming in during the winter months. Hardly used the remote..

Instructions weren’t great
This heater is great as a whole. The issue comes from assembly. You need to screw in the base from underneath, not an issue but a bit annoying as it’s huge and heavy. Then you need to UNSCREW the already screwed in screws on the top to put on the anti tip device. In doing so it popped off the rest of the top and we had to realign it and screw THAT part back in. That was all annoying. Once assembled this is a good product, it heats extremely fast, and goes a good distance outwards. There are only 2 levels of heat so the remote isn’t really useful besides turning it on and off. We leave it on high to heat our outdoor seating area. There was a yellow tag on the anti tip device that I wasn’t sure it were were supposed to remove or not as it had a warning on it but we were afraid it would burn up if we kept it on so we removed it.

Heats Up Almost Instantly
This heater has been amazing on the patio through the winter. It uses infrared heating, you can feel it heat up almost instantly if you are anywhere near the heater when it turns on. The downside to infrared is that it heats objects more than it heats the air in a space, maybe not the best option if you are trying to heat a larger outdoor area. For smaller spaces, this is perfect.Build quality is good, not amazing. Feels like it will last a few years, but not forever. Plenty of safety features for peace of mind. Overall, well worth the price for spaces like patios or outdoor seating.

Doesn’t Power On
We took this out of the box and assembled it as soon as it arrived. It has a power button on the top as well as a remote with power and temp controls. We plugged it in and couldn’t get it to power on. We tried numerous outlets and neither the remote nor the power button on the unit worked to turn it on. I just tried to start a replacement request, and apparently the only option we have (because we got rid of the original packaging already) is to drop it off at UPS. Unfortunately, that requires it to be in a box and packed to ship, either with or without a label. I am not spending money on a box this thing will fit in (it’s huge and heavy) or the packing material to go inside it. So it’s going out on the curb for bulk trash. Hopefully if somebody else picks it up, they can figure out how to fix it so it works. It’s probably just a defective unit or cable, but you might want to consider other choices if you’re looking at ordering this heater.

Overall very nice with a couple of issues. Good heat. Solid heavy base. Loose carrying handle.
Until I picked this up for the first time from the carrying handle, and felt the handle slip out of the unit a bit because the top two of the four clips that hold the handle in the unit do not clip in correctly, I thought this would be a four star heater. That loose carrying handle, though, is a safety issue and a danger to the device itself, because if it were to slip out when carrying the heater it would likely shatter the heating tube, destroying the heater. For that, I am deducting 1 star. I can force one of the top two clips to grab, but it seems to barely grab, and the other I can not get to grab. Someone was off a smidge in their manufacturing measurements. If I hold it carefully, with my thumb on the top of the unit and the rest of my hand in the carrying slot, it feels secure, but thatâs only due to my thumb pressure keeping the carrying handle in its correct position. The second star reduction is due to the misleading listing pictures regarding the heating area. Every single listing picture either shows the heat coming from the entirety of the heating âwindowâ via an orange glow or, if no orange is pictured because the pictured heater is off, the picture shows the coiled heating element extending throughout this entire area. All of the pictures are fabrications and misrepresent the true heating range and coil design of this heater, which is a 20 inch range that begins at 11 inches off the ground and extends to 31 inches off the ground (really, 30.5 inches, but I rounded up). Unlike every listing picture, over 7 inches of the heating window does not have a heating coil and does not product heat. Had the listing pictures been honest about where the coil induced heat actually comes from and where the heating coil actually begins and ends, I would not reduce a star for this, but clear and purposeful misrepresentation does deserve a deduction of a star. The rest of the heater is very nicely done. I was initially impressed with how well it was prepared for transport. It was double boxed and well protected with foam from the manufacturer. It could take some traveling abuse and probably be fine.Install was easy. The base weighs 5lbs, 12.2 ounces (5.76 lbs). The total weight is 13 pounds, 6.8 ounces (13.425 lbs). This means that about 43% of the heaterâs weight is concentrated less than one inch above the ground. This helps the heater keep a small footprint while also allowing it to be stable. During assembly, have the full heater on a flat surface with just the very edge sticking off when you attach the foot (or have someone else hold the heater) as the weight of the foot alone will want to flip the heater up if you are not ready while installing the foot. The two caution stickers on the front peel off without any residue, which I like. I know heaters get hot.The screws for the protection âshelfâ at the top are pre-installed and are difficult to remove (they must be removed to install the protection shelf with the same screws). I had to try a couple of screwdrivers before I found one that fit them well enough to back them out without messing up the heads. If only the carrying handle in the back were attached with such strength. The heater itself looks good and gets nice and warm. Iâd say itâs comparable to other infrared heaters. Itâs a nice heat for outdoors, as you feel it more than with a forced air ceramic heater that often just dissipates into the wind. I read outside in the mornings, and this will extend my outdoor reading season. The metallic back is designed for a 120 degree spread of the heat, but like all infrared heaters, the hot spot is directly in front and this dissipates as you move to the sides. Itâs just how the physics of the infrared rays work. The concept is similar to how the curve of a satellite dish concentrates the radio waves into a point. They make these heaters in horizontal and vertical designs. Both have their benefits and drawbacks. This one will move between the front and back porches, and the verticals are easier to move around than the horizontals that are on tripods. They are also easier to store between uses.Overall, Iâm quite happy. Iâll just have to be extra careful carrying it (Iâll make sure the base is only hovering an inch or so above the ground, to be safe). The remote works well from any angle, in front of or behind the heater. The heater seems perfectly quiet on both high and low settings. I have a mica heater that has a high pitched whine on high, so I am glad this heater doesnât have that issue. Clearly, this has a better transformer than some heaters on the market. It has a 6 foot cord. I wish it had at least another 2 feet, but 6 feet seems standard. Instead of telling you the gauge of extension cord you can use, it just says not to use one, which will lead people to using under-gauged extension cords. Personally, and this is not a recommendation or endorsement, I would only use a 10 or 12 gauge short extension cord with any space heater. Many extension cords people have laying around are 14 or 16 or even 18 or greater gauge, which I would not recommend for any space heater (bigger numbers = thinner, cheaper extension cords). I lean on the side of safety here. The cord that comes with the heater shows no sign of heating in the cord or at the plug, which speaks to it having the correct gauge wiring. Good for them.Recommendation: Save your box. Even if you donât disassemble the bottom, you can reconfigure the box by cutting off the bottom (viewed from the vertical) so that you can slide the box over the heater for long term storage so dust stays out of it â especially during the long term summer storage (though you will need to remove the protection âshelfâ).Currently, itâs a solid heater with the one handle issue. Should I have any other issues with the heater, Iâll update this review.

good heat
This space heater from east oak is plug and play. It has tons of power and throws some good heat, making wintering on the back porch more comfortable.

Good heater overall
The East Oak 1500W Patio Tower Heater is a solid choice for outdoor heating.Assembly was straightforward, only requiring attachment of the base and “Protection Bracketâ (what purpose this serves isnât made clear in the manual).I tested the heater on my second-floor deck, and it performed well. The power cord is on the shorter side, so itâs a little tricky to use for my setup, but it should work fine for most applications. The included remote control is a great featureâitâs convenient for adjusting the heat to manage comfort without needing to get up.While I didnât leave the heater exposed to the elements, the IP55 rating suggests it should hold up well in outdoor conditions.A quick tip: as with all high-wattage appliances, be mindful of the amp rating of your outlet and the overall load on the circuit. I tripped a breaker by running this heater at the same time as my EV charger.Overall, Iâm excited to use this heater throughout the fall and spring.
