Be prepared to spend some time putting together.
Just finished putting it together but haven’t put it on the car. To start off be prepared to spend some time putting it together, the vast majority of this could have been preassembled this would have saved much time. It is very sturdy once you put together and appears well built. I delayed for weeks putting this together because there are a lot of small parts and I have been putting stuff together for 50 years and the thought of doing one more thing sickened me ð. But it wasn’t that bad!

This bike rack is very heavy duty, which is what I needed for our electric bikes. Mine in particular is extra heavy with very fat tires.

Easy to assemble – Easy to use
This HBS22G FORWODE folding, hitch mount bike carrier is easy to assemble and easy to use. My wife recently got a new bike and we’ve been doing a lot of riding from our home. We’ve wanted to take the bikes to a state park, but it’s difficult to fit both bikes plus our bike trailer/stroller in our car without scratching up the car and the bikes. This hitch mount carrier is great because I can load both bikes without having to disassemble them or drag any mud into the car.Assembling the bike carrier was straightforward and took about 15 minutes to get all the bolts tightened. I first assembled all the pieces and then went back and tightened the bolts once I was sure everything fit together properly. I left the knobs for the tire baskets loose the first time mounting the bikes so that I could slide them to adjust for the length of each bike. Once the lengths were set and the bikes centered on the rear of the car, I used the hooks to lock each bike down. Each tire basket has a cam-lock strap to secure each tire to the basket. There is also a longer cam-lock strap to lock both bikes to each other, which helps to keep the bikes from wobbling. The bikes felt very secure on the rack once all the straps were in place.The HBS22G model is folding and can fold 90 degrees up when not in use or tip forward about 45 degrees to allow the rear hatch or trunk of the car to be opened. The joint introduces some play, even if the bolts are fully tightened. We took the bikes out for a ride and drove 45 minutes each way at 55-60mph and they didn’t make any noise back there, but I could see them move a little at times. The HBS22G model also has an anti-rattle device built into the end of the drawbar. Rather than a 5/8″ pin, there is a bolt that locks the carrier into the hitch receiver. Tightening the bolt spreads two metal feet in the end of the drawbar that expand and take out most of the play in the receiver so that the bike carrier does not wobble. This bike carrier is a good value because we saw a similar carrier at our local bike shop for twice the price.

SOLID and Sturdy – holds the bikes securely.
This is super solidly built bike rack. It is very portable, and collapses down for easy of garage storage. It’s easy to put on my Outback. It does wobble a little, but it’s due to the fit into the hitch on the car – I could probably reduce it by putting foam around the male end at the end of the rack (but my other name brand bike rack has the same amount of “play”). I certainly do not feel anything while driving. It fits our bikes securely – whether it’s the mountain bikes, road bikes, or the large tire e-bike. I do like that the rack pivots down so I can pop open the back hatch on the car.I selected the Model HBS22G which has a lock on it to secure it to the car. (The model HBS12G does not have a lock on it.) Excellent value for the money!

Sturdy enough but wobbles a bit
The metal frame is strong enough but i didnt like that the side arms are two separate pieces instead of just one straight beam. This design weakens the joint. The metal bracket with plastic spacer needs improvement as well. I bought the nonfolding 200 lbs capacity rack for my 2 50-lbs emtb and i think it’s a good fit. I wouldnt put 200 lbs on that rack though…
