Disappointing Battery Drain Issue with Otherwise Useful Charger
I really wanted to like this portable Apple Watch charger, but it has a serious flaw that limits its usefulness.If youâre just using it for a quick top-off or plan to monitor your watch while itâs charging, this will probably work fine. The issue arises when you leave the watch on the charger for an extended period. It appears that the charger doesnât stop charging once the watch is full, which not only could be bad for your watchâs battery long-term, but it also drains the charger itself completely.In my case, I charged the unit fully and placed my Apple Watch on it (at about 70% charge). After 20 minutes, I checked and saw the battery had increasedâso far, so good. But I left it overnight, and by the time I returned the next evening, the charger was completely drained and my Apple Watch was dead too. It just kept trying to charge a full watch until it killed itself.If youâre someone who only uses portable chargers for short, monitored sessions, this could still be useful. But if you want something that you can trust to leave your watch on for any length of timeâthis isnât the solution unless you keep it plugged in, which defeats the whole point of portability.Disappointed, because itâs a good idea with poor execution.

I wanted to love this portable Apple Watch charger, instead I really like it. The compact design, built-in keychain, and 1200 mAh battery make it perfect for travel or as a daily backup. There are a few oddities that keep me from giving it a full five stars. First off, Iâm not upset that it delivers about 90% of its claimed capacity (around 1064mAh). Thatâs close enough for me, and in fact, it’s more than many power banks offer -so hats off to the seller for not being sketchy. My frustration comes more from some small inconsistencies. For example, the title says 1200mAh, but the product description mentions 3000mAh (see photo). I know itâs probably just a typo, but still… Then thereâs the charging time. The listing says it fully recharges in an hour, but it consistently took about 90 minutes. Again, not a dealbreaker, but thatâs a 50% difference.The oddest thing? Charging it. The description lists âInput Voltage 4.2V,â which would imply compatibility with old 5w chargers. I tried 15â30w USB-C wall chargers and figured they would just throttle down, but they didnât work at all. After some trial and error, I found that a 5W USB-A charger (with the included USB-A to USB-C cable) worked fine. Not a big deal in the end, but definitely something you should know about. All that said, itâs a solid performer, it charged my Series 8 watch about 1.5 times and did so at a speed comparable to the standard charger. Honestly, for the price, this little gadget delivers a lot. I was going to give it 3 stars, but after thinking it through, it really deserves 4. Worth a try if you need a convenient Apple Watch backup charger.
