It is time to replace the very old light fixtures hidden above my drop ceiling with those annoying 4ft fluorescent lights with ballasts. They give off poor quality light, have high energy costs compared to these, and always seem to need either light tube or ballast replacements. They are simply not cost or light efficient compared to modern LED lighting like this. And with all the added built in features like Dimmable high 7500LM output, or Selectable 40W/50W/60W power settings, or 5000K/6000K/6500K light color choices, this is the way to go if you want to save money and have good lighting. These panels will replace both the old hidden fixtures and the 2 x 4 plastic light diffusing panels with just 1 LED light fixture. How can you beat all that?

Lot of light output, does not weigh a lot
The light fixture has very good light output (easily on par with my old 2×4, 4-bulb CFL that was replaced). Switching between warm and cold light is as easy as changing the switch position at the top of the light. There are no ‘hotspots’ on the lens, they give off a nice even light. On the lowest dimmed setting, it is a tiny bit brighter along the perimeter.Installation is very straightforward, assuming that you have a basic knowledge of electrical wiring. Be sure to understand your switch wiring and light fixture wiring diagrams and connect the power, neutral, and ground wiring properly. Lights work with 120V residential power.There are 1/2″ knockouts for power on the top and side of the fixture. There is control wiring that comes out on both sides of the compartment, making it easy to daisy chain the 0-10v wire for the dimming control, to operate multiple lights off a single switch.I have two fixtures wired for on/off (with a basic/cheap switch) and one with a dimmer switch. Keep in mind that they list specific compatible dimmer switches (ones that have 0-10v control wiring) and they can be a bit expensive. I did include a picture showing different approved switch manufacturers/models, see the pictures (is worth scanning their QR code in the instructions, should they add more in the future). I used a Cooper SF10P dimmer switch, and works without any issues (if the dimming control does not work, try reversing the 0-10v control wiring because if you get those wires reversed the light is just stuck on the dimmest output possible).If you are not going to install the light in a 2×4 drop ceiling, they can certainly be suspended. They sell accessories for changing the brackets for hanging, however I used some small chains and just connected them to the included brackets. Since the light fixture is not heavy, each corner only needs to hold a few pounds.Overall, these fixtures are lightweight, easy to wire, gives off a ton of light, and although the dimmer switches are pricey, they dimming works great. As long as they continue to work I will be happy with them.

These are really good but not for an amateur. I’ve installed some pretty complex lights in my day, so I managed this with no issue, but these are legit commercial units. They are pretty low profile which is nice, but you will need to set the color and brightness manually, so make sure they match before you close everything up.In my shipped box of five, there as one that got a ‘ding’ on one side from something impacting the box edge, so that is a little bit of a bummer but I was able to hide that one where it doesn’t matter (in the far side of my garage. Now that they’re in, the light is absolutely amazing and I really like them. Again. Not for the faint of heart, but worth the moderately difficult install.

You get a really long warranty, as well as a long-lasting light.The light is very bright (7500 lumens) with a wide beam (120 degrees) and a selectable light color (5000K and BRIGHTER). You select the light color on a switch on the light.If you want a soft white light, then there are other Sunco products that you can purchase, but this is not the light set that you want. I like 5000K lights, as they are pure white. I find the brighter options to be too bright and a bit on the blue side.You can surface mount or suspension mount these, which make them great to replace your old fluorescent lights.These lights are best used in tall ceilings.
