Over the years, that small bike rack company based in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia grew to include numerous other ground breaking designs in the North American Bicycle, RV and Automobile markets.

WOW SUPER PRODUCT-QUALITY AND VALUE-EASY TO USE
AMAZON ROCKS! THIS IS A GREAT VALUE! HARDWARE IS OK, AND THE LOCKS WORK WELL TO SECURE IT. YOU NEED A BIKE/MOTORCYCLE CABLE WITH HEAVY DUTY LOCK TO SECURE ACTUAL BIKES TO YOUR FRAME. IF THEY REALLY WANT IT THEY WILL UNBOLT THE BIG CENTER PIN. BUT THAT’S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN IN PUBLIC PLACES. AT A NATIONAL PARK–MAYBE IN SECLUDED LOTS. SOLID AND STURDY, SUPER EASY TO USE, AND VERY STEADY ON THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE HAD MANY BIKE RACKS–AND THIS ONE IS THE BEST EVER! THE METAL TRAYS FOR THE WHEELS ARE VERY SOLID AND IT FOLDS UP WELL. IT ALMOST DISAPPEARS, AND IN PLACE —IT IS ROCK SOLID! THE TWO LOCKING TOP RAIL BARS WORK VERY WELL (VERY SECURE). BE SURE TO USE THE LOCK WASHERS OR SOME BLUE LOC TITE ON THE LOCKING HITCH PIN THROUGH THE RECIEVER TUBE. THE LOCK ON THE END SHOULD PREVENT THE LOSS OF THE PIN IF IT UNSCREWS AND BACKS OUT–THUS USE LOC TITE BLUE! USE IT ON EVERYTHING, YOU NEVER WANT TO LOOSE ANY BIKE RACK. IT WORKS FINE JUST THE WAY IT COMES–BUT LOCK ASHERS GET– LOST. OHHH–YOU CAN DROP A TAILGATE OF A PICKUP, IN THE SWING OUT MODE, TAILGATE CLEARS ABOUT 4 INCHES OR MORE FROM THE BIKES ON THE MOUNTED BIKE SWING OUT, WITH AN EASY FLIP OF A STURDY LEVER. THAT IS AWSUMMMM TO GET TO YOUR ICE CHEST IN THE SUV OR TRUCK BED. THIS ONE REALLY IS A WINNER !!! ! SUPERB QUALITY AND VALUE. AMAZON ROCKS!!! WE LOVE AMAZON! WEAR A HELMET–WE HAVE BROKEN HELMETS OFF OUR HEADS ON TREES ON THE MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS. BE SAFE! YOU CAN’T GET REPLACEMENT BRAINS! CHECK OUT THE AMAZON COOGEO 2 BIKE RACK COVER TO PROTECT THE RACK/BIKES IN STORMS ON WAY HOME. GREAT PRODUCT!

Great bike rack
Great bike rack – easy to install and works great – folds down out of the way and I leave it on all the time whether I am biking or not. Very heavy duty and easy to use. Safe for my bikes.

Great bike rack!
We purchased this bike rack for use with our Curt 1.25 inch trailer hitch I had installed on our 2017 Forester. The main male portion of the rack is 1.25 inches so it fit perfectly into our hitch however the rack does come with a 2 inch adapter installed that is a piece of cake to remove (just unscrew the screw which holds it in place). I would highly recommend to assemble the rack when in is threaded into the trailer hitch, it really makes things much easier to assemble and adjust items. I ride a 60cm bike and my wife rides a 52cm and I ended up having to swap the arms which hold down the bike frame since the longer arm was originally in the back and the shorter arm in the front of the rack. I wanted to have the largest bike closest to the car with my wife’s smaller frame in the outer position. Reading the instructions, it states one wants to have the arms rest on the top tube closest to the seat frame so after some back and forth positioning/readjusting the wheel holders, I finally got it positioned where it needed to be.I would say with the included locking hitch pin and locking arms, this really is a high value bike rack. We took both our bikes on a 500+ mile roundtrip to the beach and back and while there was minimal sway watching the rack in the rearview mirror, overall there were no issues and no scratches on the frames of the bike. I was originally concerned about the arms resting on the top tubes (especially since I have a carbon frame bike) but found no issue after our recent trip. I did also purchase the Kuat Transfer 2 hitch mount rack also (which is a touch more expensive), but ended up returning it since there was much more plastic involved and while the arm was fairly sturdy when clamped down on the front wheel, there was no formal locking mechanism (like this Chinook where you can use the keys to lock the arm down for added security and peace of mind). Overall, while the Swagman Chinook may not win any awards in the looks category (fairly bare bones), for functionality and value its an ideal bike rack to get your bike from point A to point B without issue.

Nice, but not perfect.
This is a pretty nice bike rack. The pros are:It’s easy to put togetherIt’s sturdyIt folds up and out of the wayIt’s easy to load the bikesThe cons are:The tilt release handle is in an awkward place and hard to access with bikes on the rackWhen I tilt the bike rack out, my Maverick tail gate still hits the bike rackThe rack is heavier than I would like since I have to remove it to get the Maverick in the garageFor added security you need to chain the bike to the rack because it wouldn’t be much trouble removing the bikes even with the included locksFor me the rack is fine because I can load and transport my bike safely for my short trips very easily.

Swagman Chinook Hitch Mount Bike Rack – All that I was looking for in a bike rack!!!
The rack arrived very well packaged and the parts were all included and secured to the packaging. It is hefty and well constructed. The instructions could be a little clearer as with most products on the market, the manufacturer is more concerned with something other than assembly and not beta tested with people who have never assembled one of these things before. It all went together fine and assembly did not take too long. Once assembled, it works fine. Tilting it away from the car, being able to fold it down and the security of the locking arms and the ability to lock the wheels in the carrier makes it even better. Securing it to the hitch with the products provided is another story and I will not go into it here. Suffice it to say, I purchased the rack for the ability to transport my mike and I will address securing the rack separately. That however, should not have to be the case in view of the cost of the rack, however, when compared to a Thule, it is on par with the pricier item. Looking for a hitch mount carrier that safely secures your bike and well made, give Swagman a try.

Muy buen rack. Buena calidad por el precio. Lo único yo le pongo una protección al cuadro de mi bicicleta porque con el movimiento se llega a marcar. Pero fuera de eso, todo muy bien.Incluye el candado para el tirón y sus llaves

First off, this is a great rack. It feels extremely sturdy and is very easy to load bikes on/off and secure them. I regularly load things on the roof of the car and in the bed of a truck with other hitch attachments and often worry about how they’ll do when on the highway. But with this rack, I have absolutely no worry about whether it’s going to stay in place or whether the bikes will be safe because it feels that heavy duty and is secure to the car.I have used bike racks that sit on the outside/back of your car with various straps and never really liked that the bikes would just hang by the top tube with wheels moving. It is both more secure for them to sit/locked in the wheel tray and also have the upper locking handle than this other style of rack. I also love how you can keep the bikes in the rack and tilt it down so you can access your trunk. The only ‘negative’ thing I have to comment on is that for whatever reason, it was really brutal trying to get the rack into the hitch receiver of my car. I have a 1 1/4″ receiver on my Tiguan and it took forever trying to get it inside, with paint scraping off the rack. I guess the upside to this is it will be really difficult to remove it, whether on purpose or by accident?Bottom line is, if I needed another rack, I would buy this one again.

Very sturdy and reliable carrier for my Tesla model 3. Didnât like the roof rack so I did a research and found this product. It came with a locking hitch pin worth of $70. I like the tilting function very handy when you need to access to the boot although it can be accessed via rear seats. It has the locking hooks so you can leave your bikes without any worries. Reasonable price, good quality.

We used to have a Thule brand bike rack which was supposed to be able to carry two bikes. It was just terrible! There was no way we could carry two adult bikes without partially disassembling them. What a hassle! We purchased the Swagman Chinook Hitch Mount Bike Rack and are very, very happy! It is vastly superior to the Thule product we had and it’s cheaper too. With the Swagman, it is very easy to move the bike tire holders around and this makes it easy to adjust the bike positions so that everything fits well. The bike rack is quite sturdy, it sits further away from the car than other brands, and it secures both the frame and the tires. Loading and unloading is very easy.We love this bike rack!
