    Making life accessible for all.
This lock is a game changer for so many. I have been installing keyless locks at my house, my parent’s house and my sister’s house. We need to make it so that my mother can’t remember where she left her keys, but still needs to get inside. This lets you open the door in multiple methods. The most easy for her is to have her palm read. Biometrics are always present in each of us, so she can never lose them. The app, the passcode, the palm reading, the wifi connection for remote locking, a key, one-time code, and emergency override. We like the app because we can see when someone enters the house. We can also give the code to EMS if there is every a need for them to get into the house for one of our parents. We can also remote lock it if we forgot, but you can set it to auto lock after a certain period of seconds just to make sure it is locked when you leave or after you enter. We love the one-time code for the dog sitter and dog groomer. I have biometric fingerprint locks, but this palm vein reader is a game changer since I don’t have to worry about having my finger aligned just right. Why not make life easier? This lock just makes is super easy to know your home is secure and that your kids or parents will be able to get inside when they need to. You can also remote lock the door for them if they forget or just set it to auto-lock and always know the doors are locked.

    Simple enough set installation
Easy to install used on main door of home. Connectivity is good wireless router is within 30 feet of this lock no issues with it dropping the connection. Alexa controllable so can lock and unlock with alexa commands. Its quite fast at responding to unlock commands whether its via the app or manually entry.Overall this provides plenty of access functionality great for those with multiple people coming and going and you dont need to worry about physical keys you can change codes as neededInstall is quite simple the setting up of palms and pin codes is what may be more time consuming.

Decent for a smart lock, with a few massive caveats.
Okay, so a few things right off the bat.First off: Rechargeable battery block? Good inclusion. Battery block that can be recharged by USB alone from both the block itself AND the outside of the lock? Good…ish… inclusion. On the one hand, good because charge. On the other, USB with that kind of access from the outside usually means data access and lock override issues. Which… concerns me.The concerns continue with no fingerprint reader, instead relying on a palm scan. Which seems like it might not be all that secure. But hey. Rely on the tags(maybe) and it’ll probably be okay. Maybe. The cool thing is you can add tags in through the app, so that’s neat at least, but the tags it comes with are by default both able to unlock the door, so be mindful not to lose them or hand them off to people. Which is a problem because both are basically just blister-plastic coated and have TINY little lanyard tags. Maybe you can restrict access in the app, but since you can’t really label the individual tags very easily, that’s a problem. The key itself is… simple, and the lock itself doesn’t appear much more secure than any normal Apartment/Residential Special, given the relatively simple keyway, lots of space to move around, and it doesn’t feel a lot like there’re all that many security pins, so the main security of the lock is that the key is hard to turn. Which is a problem because the included keys feel WAY too lightweight, like they might snap if you aren’t careful. So, you know… bit of a rough start there. Here’s the thing. It’s not a terrible lock. It’s not without its problems(better hope your door frame is GREAT, which is a problem if you live in a place where heat exists and doors or frames can change shape with the season), but it at least does the job, and it at least yells at you if the deadbolt doesn’t turn properly. But here’s the problem. It yells at you FROM THE LOCK ITSELF if the deadbolt doesn’t turn properly. It’s too verbose. It basically announces to anyone within earshot if it unlocks, and moreso if it doesn’t lock Properly. And that? That presents a major security concern. And don’t tell me “you can turn it off”, because that’s already a bit of a problem if the security concern is BY DEFAULT bad. Also it connects through the Tuya/Smart app, so don’t make the mistake of pulling down the TCL app and trying to connect through that, because the TCL app only recognizes the D2 models, not the D1 models. Which seems extra weird to me.Look, a lot of these problems could be fixed in software. Make the tags by default not work until they are paired. Make the security by default not loudly announce when it’s no longer in action by default. The hardware things that need to be fixed(the tags having no label form of any kind, or the ability to use phone NFC for unlocking, or the keys not being very good, And yes, I know, you can just get the keys duplicated with better and stronger keystock, but that’s not the POINT), that should definitely be addressed too. Also the battery gets VERY hot when charging while in use. That’s concerning. But hey. At least it looks kinda nice.

Smart Lock Blends Security and Convenience
This smart lock has been very useful for my entryway door which my family uses a lot. The palm vein scanner feels very modern and works in less than a second once you get used to holding your hand steadily over the sensor. Ii took me a few tries to master but now I can use it quickly. I appreciate that it works even if my hands are damp from washing dogs or dirty from gardening, since fingerprints often fail in those situations. The device also gives options because there are several ways to unlock it, including the app, keypad codes, and a mechanical key. That makes it easy to share access with family or guests while still keeping the house secure. The Smart Life app is clear to use and provides updates each time the door is opened, which is helpful when I’m not home. Installation required the same basic steps as swapping out a regular deadbolt, so it wasn’t super difficult if you’re comfortable with tools. Built-in WiFi makes remote control possible and the Alexa integration lets me lock or check status by voice. The rechargeable battery has held its charge well so far, and I like that USB-C backup charging is available if it ever runs out. It’s a good lock combo that combines technology and standard mechanics for easy everyday use.

    No More Key Hunting
This TCL smart lock has completely changed how I come and go from home. I used to waste time digging through my bag for keys—now I just use the palm vein scanner or keypad. It’s fast, super accurate, and feels very secure. The app makes it easy to lock or unlock from anywhere, and I love being able to check the status when I’m not home.
