【4K +2K Dual STARVIS 2 Sensors Dash Cam】 The pioneering A229 Pro dash cam is equipped with dual flagship SONY STARVIS 2 image sensors – IMX678 and IMX675. Simultaneously supporting 4K 2160P resolution for the front camera and 2K 1440P for the rear camera. It delivers smooth cinematic 4K and 2K image quality and ensures effortless license plate reading and detail capturing, day or night. Providing you all-around security monitor.
【HDR for Front and Rear Night Vision 2.0】 The A229 Pro boasts Sony’s premier STARVIS 2 MX678 and IMX675 sensors, expertly combined with cutting-edge HDR technology. The wider dynamic expands the range of captured details, skillfully harmonizing highlights and shadows. This ensures precise license plate recognition, even during high-speed scenarios, for both front and rear recordings, and restores 4K-level details, ensuring the best night shots.
【3 Parking Modes for 24/7 Protection】 A229 Pro is supported by a buffering function, it will initiate automatic recording upon detecting moving objects. It will store the video footage for 15 seconds prior to and 30 seconds after the detected event. There are 3 parking modes Auto Event Detection, Low Bitrate, and Time Lapse, offering flexibility in conserving SD card storage space. Please note that the HK4 Acc hardwire is not included in the packing list, you can acquire it by Asin: B09MRVP2PX.
【Hands-free Voice Control & Notification】 Experience hands-free control with 12 voice commands, including options to take photos, lock the video, turn on/off Wi-Fi, turn on/off audio, show the front/rear camera, etc. Additionally, provide clear voice notifications such as settings adjustments and memory card issues. This integration notably boosts accuracy and stability in positioning. And also provides thorough vehicle location, speed, and timestamp data when reviewing videos on the VIOFO App or a computer.
【Loop Recording &Emergency Lock】 The A229 Pro features loop recording, which means that as soon as the memory card reaches its storage capacity, the car camera will automatically replace the oldest video file with the most recent one. Furthermore, the A229 Pro can automatically lock the video when the camera detects shaking or collision to prevent important videos from being overwritten during loop recording.
【Anti-Glare CPL Included & 6M Rear Cable】 A CPL (Circular Polarizing Lens) is included and affixed to the front lens of the dashcam to effectively diminish reflections and glare from glass and road surfaces. This results in a substantial enhancement of image quality and contrast in various scenarios. The camera comes standard with a 6M rear cable. If you need a longer customized 8M/10M rear cable for your car, you can find it on VIOFO official website.
【Built-in Supercapacitor】 A high-quality supercapacitor ensures a more stable power and longer lifetime. This dash cam has excellent performance from 5℉ to 149℉ in extreme summer and winter. Please note that this dash cam does not include any batteries.
【Optional Memory Card Recommendation】 There is no SD card included with the A229 Pro dash camera. We advise using VIOFO industrial high endurance microSD cards since they provide better certainties about compatibility and long-life durability, considerably improving your dashcam owner experience. These cards are optimized for dashcam recording. You have the option of selecting from 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB.

    Value = quality/price; great value.
    I waited a year to write this, having blown through 2 major brands. Pros: Great video options, ease of use, the quick mount is amazing, installation was a breeze. App supports it well, but honestly, the voice commands and controls are probably easy. Rugged and tough and has withstood trail roads and crazy heat. Cons: None really, I kind of wish the rear cam was 4K. I have purchased 4, and one did come with cracked screen that was returned and replaced right away. Note: I highly recommend an industrial SD card that can withstand heat. I bought three more for my grandchildren’s cars!

    Budget meets quality.This has some of the best if not best software tuning of the Sony Starvis II sensor out there. Yet, it remains affordable.This is still a great dashcam, but they came out with newer models. A329, they come with various features, but the same Sony Starvis 2 sensor, 4K front 2K rear. But I believe this was cheaper or some how better (based on reviewers).The newer add on camera’s give you additional features, like the telephoto lens that does a better job reading text like license plates since it doesn’t use a fisheye lens, also a bit more zoomed in or closer to the subject view. I believe the A329/s gives you extended parking mode and the A329/t is the telephoto version.They also have a record option built-in (software I believe) that allows you to have multiple cameras on one video, in a separate folder than the single camera files. Makes it easier for court, uploading online or showing friends/family what happened.Once you learn the buttons it’s easy to use. Has voice commands if you like using voice commands.I like being able to see what it sees, no more having to open the app to see the live feed. The included polarized lens reduces glare and can sharpen images in daylight, may affect the night time camera. The same for HDR, but I believe there was an update for that (at least on newer versions possibly). Basically a auto HDR for day/night.Dual Sony Starvis 2 senors.Okay, not all sensors are the same. Sony makes multiple sizes of sensors some more sensitive than others. Think CPU or GPU chips in your computer, not all Intel i7 cpu’s are the same even if their all the smae generation (14th gen), you can have a 14600K and someone else can have a more powerful 14800K chip.Then there is as mentioned software tuning, that improves the post image quality.IMX678 and IMX675. Simultaneously supporting 4K 2160P resolution for the front camera and 2K 1440P for the rear camera. Bigger number = bigger sensor = front camera sensor.What is 2K or 4K? (K = 1,000)Simplest explanation 720p (1280 by 720) is HD (1K if you like because it has 1,280 pixels)1080p (1920 by 1080) is Full HD (just under 2,000 or 2K pixels)What is referred to as 2K is actually double 720P (2560 by 1440 pixels)And 4K isn’t 720p x 4, it is actually double 1080p (3840 x 2160)Somewhere someone referred to 3K as 2K and it stuck. This was probably because it was more like 2.5K pixals and they rounded down instead of up. And consumers have been confused ever since.

    Very clear videos (thanks to Sony sensor) with high-end features
    I have had and installed several dashboard cameras for my family and I that were in the $150-$250 range. Some worked well, but many were downright lousy (image quality especially!) My brother’s car had a $200 one that kept freezing up after about a year, and he got fed up and asked me for a recommendation. I liked my FitcamX for the Toyota Sienna because it had an integrated OEM look. It served me well, but image quality was still lacking despite its 4K video claim. My brother bought the Viofo A139, and it looked pretty good for a 1440-pixel camera thanks to its Sony sensor.I got myself the Viofo A229 Pro 4K to see how it would compare to the FitcamX 4K. For the test, I did not mount it to the windshield and had it lean against the center console instead (see video).PROS- Excellent image quality (some degradation during night time)– Sony makes some of the best photographic sensors in the industry (I’m a professional photographer but shoot with Canon)– Better than average night vision that Sony is known for- Can simultaneously record front, rear, and interior with the 3CH version. I bought the 2CH (front, rear)- GPS built in to record place of collision and to log route– When collision is detected, it beeps a few times. Video is stored in a subfolder on the memory card (forgot what it’s called. “Locked”?)- Videos are stored in .MP4 format- Wires are routed through the car’s interior and to the cigarette lighter port, but a hardwire kit (to the fuse box is available for purchase)– Only turns on when the car is powered on, but can also constantly stay on by tapping directly into the car battery (with the optional hardwire kit)– Cable is USB-A C between cigarette port adapter and main camera, and USB-C between main and rear cameras– Cables were sufficiently long enough for a Toyota Highlander SUV and Sienna minivan with plenty to spare- Lenses can be rotated to different, vertical angles, but not horizontally- Multiple recording modes in Parked state– Automatic: when motion is detected, automatically record– Time lapse at specific frame rates (the higher the FPS, the more images will be taken)—- Manual warns to use this mode during hot weather to prevent overheating of the camera– Low bitrate: continuous recording but at a loss of image resolution/quality- microSD memory card support for up to 512GB– Recommend SanDisk and Kingston the most. Viofo recommends their own branded memory card—- SanDisk Extreme series cost more, but has lifetime warranty- WiFi function to view via a smartphone app– Videos can be zoomed into for better visibility- Circular Polarizing Lens (CPL) Filter is an unusual feature– CPLs are generally used in photography to block out glares and reflections to produce sharper images. Having one for the dashcam can help with that, but that also can create poor images depending on camera angle and time of day. If CPL is used, be sure to check the image quality from time to time- Voice notification to present camera state- Audio recording was decent– Recording can be turned off for privacy- Manual start/stop of recording via a Bluetooth remote (optional purchase. I did not buy)- GPS coordinate, timestamp, speed, “Viofo” brand, camera model info can be watermarked on/off on the videoCONS- Installation manual is better than expected, but if you have installed audio or camera equipment in the car before, it’s a straight-forward, standard process– Installation is made easier with a multimeter if using the hardwire kit. None needed for the cigarette lighter port- A bit on the pricey side- microSD Memory card was not included- 3M sticker to mount camera to windshield could come off over time- Does not look like an OEM camera like the FitcamX doesI tested the collision feature by dropping the camera. It made a few beeps and moved the video to a special subfolder on the memory card.You can’t go wrong with a Sony image sensor and GPS combination to record collisions. Should they get into an accident or come across a crime, the resulting video will certainly either help put a bad person behind bars and/or safe us much more in insurance cost against false lawsuits caused by fraudulent drivers.

    Works as attended.
    Easy to install for my 21 Tacoma. Trying to get the bluetooth to work is another story. Clear pictures both day and night.It does get hot baking in the summer heat. So far, no issues other than sticking the rear camera sideways.

    I recently purchased the Viofo A229 Pro dashcam, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. After having it installed by a professional, the dashcam has exceeded all my expectations.First and foremost, the video quality is outstanding. The footage is crystal clear, both day and night, capturing every detail on the road. Whether it’s a sunny day or a dimly lit street, the A229 Pro delivers sharp, high-definition recordings that provide peace of mind while driving.The companion app is another standout feature. It’s incredibly user-friendly, allowing me to transfer videos directly to my iPhone within minutes. This makes it easy to review and save important clips without needing to remove the SD card or connect the dashcam to a computer.One of the features I particularly appreciate is the parking mode. It works flawlessly, offering continuous monitoring even when the car is parked. This adds an extra layer of security, as the camera can automatically record any incidents or suspicious activity around my vehicle.Overall, the Viofo A229 Pro is a fantastic investment. Its top-notch video quality, seamless app integration, and reliable parking mode make it one of the best dashcams on the market. Highly recommended!

    It’s hands down the best video quality on the market at the lowest price.I had it professionally installed (had to source the wires kit (HK4) directly from VIOFO) and despite the installer not being impressed by my choice I am very satisfied with it.Only downside is the CX. Downloading the videos from the dashcam is quite labour intensive, especially because the wifi clashes with apple CarPlay and I have to disconnect the bluetooth to make it work.

    It’s an amazing dashcam for sure. The main camera is so good and the footage is as you’d expect a 4k image to be. The CPL included helps a lot with the glare. However it will only accept 2 micro SD cards. Scandisk max endurance and viofo sd card. That’s it. Any other card doesn’t work. And the app is absolutely rubbish. Not easy to connect to the camera. I don’t know if you can download using the app.
